What is the height of the drop down hitch on a 2021 Ranger XLT Tremor w/factory tow package? Anyone know off-hand or care to put a tape to it?

My current setup, a 2012 Nissan Frontier pulling a 2009 Coleman E1, requires a 6” rise to reach the tongue of this off-road pop-up. The new camping rig will be an XLT Tremor towing an Opus OP15 hybrid caravan. All though the new Ranger will sit a little higher than the Frontier, I suspect I will still need a rise to reach the tongue of the OP15. Plus, I will have to tow the old camper a couple times with the new truck, so I’m wondering what that setup will look like.

By the way, that old camping outfit will be for sale in a couple weeks, the Nissan Frontier and the Coleman E1. If anyone is interested.

I don't have a number for you but the OP15 looks like an impressive off-road trailer.

It appears to use a non-standard hitch so I guess you'll be getting the proper rise/drop directly from OPUS? I guess that also means that weight distribution and anti-sway hitches aren't going to be compatible.

I wonder how that trailer would be on-road, since the listed tongue weight is only 8% of the dry weight of the trailer (as opposed to 10-15%). Seems like it might not be the most stable thing at highway speeds, but I guess that's the price you pay to have something that rides better on the trail.

Let us know how you like the combo once you've gotten your hands on it!

Nice setup!
Thank you! It's been a lot of fun. But we are getting a little older and Wife is looking for a little more luxury in our off-grid adventures.

Thanks for the reply.

You are correct. The OP15 has a "Lock-N-Roll" articulating hitch. It does come with a 2" rise/drop from Opus, hoping thats enough! Weight distribution isn't an option at this point, but I have heard they have are working on something for it.

I also thought the dry weight listed was a little off. It has two potable water tanks, in front and behind the wheels, I believe people adjust the amount of water in each tank to help with distributing the weight some.

Will keep you posted and how she does!

On my Tremor with tow package the bottom of the 2 inch receiver opening is 21 7/8 inches off the ground.

The receiver opening on the Frontier sits at 15". Bigger difference than I expected. I can't wait to see how different this Ranger is compared to the Frontier off-road and while towing!

The rear of the Ranger will probably come down quite a bit once your trailer is hitched up

Didn't expect that much of a difference in hitch height! You should probably be level or a small drop with the new trailer.

Took my first visit to the storage lot to check out the current hitch situation with the old pop-up camper, a Coleman E1 (GVWR: 3500 lbs, Tongue Wt: 315 lbs). I don't see much problem getting it to work. First pic shows the camper level with no contact on the ball, second pic shows the camper's tongue supported by the hitch. The rear of the truck dropped 1.5" with the trailer hooked up. First pic also shows the only cargo in the vehicle itself, Nakai (Springer Spaniel: 48 lbs).

Looks like the Ranger was made for this!

What are you thinking you'll sell the E1 for?
