What the heck! That is an insane difference. These forums are really showing me the prices of Canada I was not aware of, like gas.

3X is the worst I've seen. Hard to believe when you posted it, as I just paid $21 last week.

I've always lived close to the border and done allot of cross border shopping in person, until, well, I just leave at, until this year. I don't wan to get banned, for the rant I can feel brewing.

When you have a lot of subsidies that are given to the public, the cost has to be provisioned from somewhere.

Look at the price of gas in CA vs almost anywhere else.

There's a huge difference between something being provided "Free" as opposed to being provided "at no cost to you".

Google and Facebook spring immediately to mind with "free" services.

3x is crazy! I would of done the same and checked the US price to see it for myself. At $21 each, it'd be near a $100 mod to do rims and grill like I mentioned and you would probably feel bad if it got scuffed up. Cross border shopping makes complete sense in your situation. Man I almost feel bad for having this mini Canadian gold mine of plastidip. Gotta hide these when Canadian friends come around to the house.

From Ontario I can drive to Texas and back (2500 miles) including:

gas
food
1 hotel each way
Shroockworks Skids #2, 3 & 4 and installation

cheaper than buying them and having them shipped to me for self install..... And that's based on Canadian fuel prices of ~$5/gallon.

By now I think most of us know what's out there for our Rangers, and guessing that all of us have some combo of floor mats/deflectors/mud flaps/bed mats..liners...boxes, ect.
I have all that stuff, but the little item I have found most useful, every day, is that silly little $14 buck console tray...something that Ford should have included and probably would have cost them $2 or $3 bucks.

Sounds like a bunch of free excuses to spend money and take road trips :)

EDIT: is there any border regulations preventing you from filling a 100 gallon transfer tank in your bed and lugging it back over? Seems like it would be $250 cheaper every trip you take ?

All I know is I've spend a lot of upgrade bucks!
  • Fox 2.0 shocks. $1550 installed. Great upgrade.
  • Livernois performance tune. $400. Worth every penny and then some!
  • Soft tonneau cover $250
  • Firestone Destination XT's $900
  • Wet Okole seat covers. $650 another great addition.
  • AVS hood protector $65
  • Linex spray in bed liner. $450
  • Husky floor mats. $75
  • Larger center console storage tray. $13
  • Red paint for tow hooks. $4.75
  • Rear hammock for my golden retriever $70. A must with the way he sheds ?
This forum is both good and bad, good for information but bad for the pocketbook! ?

Do you have any pics of the Okoles installed? How's the fit?

I'm kind of debating Katzkin leather or the Okoles.

Thanks!

Here you go. The fit is pretty good but they're a bit of a pain to get on. Might have been because I did it in November when the weather up in northern Michigan is cold out so it was kind of a bitch. Katzkin are awesome but dang pricey! I wanted the neoprene with my dog which is why I didn't buy a lariat to begin with.

Dennis, One thing to keep in mind is the Wet Okoles are seat covers and the Katzkins are leather replacements. When I was thinking about getting the Base Bronco I looked into both of these and really liked the Katzkins and the offer heated and cooled seats as an option. They are a lot more money but if you're going to keep the truck for a while it's worth the investment. Nothing against the Wet Okoles which are great too but they're really two different items.
