Lots of great pics here of the beautiful scenery above ground. How about some from down below? These pics were taken at Carlsbad Caverns while on our way out east to NC late last year.

It's amazing how little anything happening on the surface matters when you are 700ft below ground. It was so peaceful and serene inside that it felt like all of time stopped while you were in the cavern.

Cavern entrance - look at that switchback! Fortunately, you can take an elevator back to the surface when you are done exploring the cavern.

Big Room - main area of the cavern and is extremely large (about 357,000 sqft of floor space).

14.jpg

Hall of Giants - these stalagmites were huuuuuge!

15.jpg

Twin Domes in the Hall of Giants.

16.jpg

Another formation showing the sheer size of this space. The roof is about 255 ft at its highest point.

27.jpg

Rock of Ages - kinda looks like a walrus to me.

Dolls Theatre.

Occasionally, you run across some underground pools.

Went out to Dinosaur National Monument after work Wednesday. Beautiful place. No Ranger pics, traveling with a co-worker.
