My wife has a theory on carts. Not sure I agree with her, but it has worked for her.

She'll park right next to the cart corral.

Her theory is that one side is protected from neighboring cars, and anybody taking the time to actually put their cart where it belongs will take care with it.
I do that often as well, but strategically against other factors. If I can get my passenger side parked close to the corral, it leaves extra room on the driver's side for buffer, against a car who may then park next to me.

Late to the thread, but I hate careless idiots too! Especially when they’re me! Had only had my truck for a little over a month, when I did this to it on the way home after a 12+ hour shift. Was going too fast, wanting to get home, and took an s-turn as if I had been in my Mustang. Learned real fast that a Ranger isn’t a Mustang when I skidded into a bollard.

Over $10k in damage, and the last part won’t arrive until the 26th, well over 2 months since the incident.

So yeah, it sucks when your truck gets dinged by some ignorant person. But it could always be worse. At least yours is drivable.
I think that's the same one I posted about... it's painful to look at.

Good theory but idiots don't use line for a guide...they use the space between you and them...try hugging the end spot and EVERYTIME, a car will park hugging you as well... ?

My people!

There are many factors involved in choosing the "right" parking spot. One must be flexible. Similar to choosing g a route from A to B there are so many factors that some strategery is needed to make the proper choice.

I’m glad it worked out so well Brandon. I’m not sure what’s more painful - discovering that dent or having to monitor a ten-page thread about it. ?
I am quite sure 8 pages of this thread is about sharing various parking strategies and then a few pages about dents

But he's driving a Ranger so he is special. ?

I don't do it but as long as you're way out in the back away from people I could care less if you park sideways taking up 2 spots.

Tom, maybe a few of these would help? lol...j/k

I'm beginning to think that YOU think I'm an alcoholic. You're not wrong, but I think you're out of line.

This is a good point too, but I also avoid the front of the lot. Normally it's toward the rear but the corral may offer better protection than out in the open when previously noted idiots can clip my front end as the text through the parking lot.

"Corral" can also be a end row garden, or corner of the lot, light or sign pole, or various other structures.

Flexible to all, except nose in parking..... that's only for TGD people.

I mean, I will sometimes. But I prefer to park like the Rock Star I am.

Kinda like shitty light beer. Sometimes you gotta mix it up with the plebes to stay grounded.

For the record, I mean no insult to anyone on the TGD front, I just think it's funny. DeeZed (Canada Baby) Dave, in particular.

I love rdiculous, over the top jokes, like teasin my 5'2" friend about hitting his head on the door knob, or bumping his knee on the base boards. I maybe 50, but I am a child.... lol

Give it time. With any luck it'll turn out like the thread "New California Gas Tax".?

That one went 25 pages talking about

the new gas tax to
corporate welfare
SS/investments
healthcare
guns
moving from a blue to red state

I felt bad after meeting my new neighbor because as he was walking off I hollered "if you need a hand with anything let me know!" He has an undeveloped arm due to birth defect.

The next week at their housewarming party his coworkers kept referring to some dude they called "lefty." Finally I asked, "who is lefty?" They looked at me and said "Bill?!" My neighbor.

It was at that moment I knew we'd get along.

We're all children at heart.
