do you see Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine? How can three north east states be so based? Good gun laws as well. Hmmmmmmmmm, I’ll keep it quiet but ahem “fuck off we’re full.” Hint hint.
Gas tax is mildly interesting, but you need to look at the total tax environment for each locale. New Hampshire has no sales tax or individual income tax. We make up for it in other ways, mainly property taxes (including motor vehicles) and corporate income tax. So, if you buy a more fuel-efficient car/truck/suv, you can reduce your fuel tax bill. Very few towns have a lower property tax rate than ours, but our annual property tax bill is much higher than the combined fuel bill for all three of our cars.

Here’s a good chart of gas tax by state …

Amateurs.

Real socialists tax 0.76€ (0.90$) per liter, and then slap 25% VAT over the gas tax. That's effectively 1.13$ gas tax per liter or 4.28$/gallon. And that's the reason why in Finland we pay 1.85€/liter (7$/gallon) for gas and everyone is bankrupt.

Just filled up with 87 at $2.65 for Shell...dropped from the 93 when it got above 2.75...it was cheaper here last year. I used 93 octane and never paid more than 2.49 for it. Now it is over $3.00.
Alabama does have it's advantages.

Unfortunately only businesses get socialist tax cuts and also dont have to pay for the infrastructure they use to produce and transport their goods. So as someone else said, it has to come from somewhere. But don't worry it will trickle down they say. So wages should have also gone up because of those business tax cuts, because Im sure they passed that savings along to their most valuable resource……the employees. Which means there should be more than enough money to pay for this minimal increase in the fuel tax.

I don't have a problem with CA residents and what they do to themselves. What I do have a problem with is when they get tired of how much they F'd their state and government up and move to a new state and begin infecting it with their bullshit.

The definition of "insanity" comes to mind.
You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile.

I was going to come into this thread bashing the people who voted for this since yes it's freaking 5$ a gallon, but I wanted to see where our tax money was going.. I did some digging, found the stats. As much as I hate the gas prices, maybe there is some good benefit to it besides just the emissions this time.

Sure glad your not sarcastic! ?

I was going to post ours, Canadian prices but @KNI got us beat by a mile.
But here goes, average Canuk pays .44c a liter in tax.
It's about 1.40 in the french section. I think more in BC.
So about 5.60$ a gallon(4 liters).
So, yea, that's what in US$ ? 1.99$, Hmmm, not bad after all.

Guess we are in the same boat almost, I wasn't aware Canadian gas was so expensive. Has it always been relatively expensive compared to the US or recent laws pushed it up a bit?

$2.75 for premium at Costco here in Dallas (about $3.20 at other stations)
Will you ship me a few gallons? It'll still be cheaper than buying here......

Pretty much the definition of Moxie .... a State that has a 75 Billion Dollar surplus, jacking up gas taxes.

Although, kind of makes sense ... with all the folks leaving, you have to increase taxes on the remaining folks.

The surplus is because we keep taxing everywhere we go, if the people keep paying for it why would the government spend their own money? It's like the rich get richer somehow, weird. Maybe one day people will stop voting all the taxes in they can think of when it starts affecting them more.

Give them some slack Jack it's a disease and there's no cure! SOB's are coming here in droves and then they get on nextdoor.com and first brag about how cheap it is to buy a house then in the next breath say how they're going to flip AZ blue. You wonder how some can be so stupid!:headbang:
