While myself and others have the Shrockworks and are happy with them, your early July time frame will be a no-go with them.

It took well over a month between the order and receipt of my sliders.

If you really want/need it by then I'd check with several of the mentioned vendors and see who has stock ready to ship.

And yes, if there is one thing I wish my Shrockworks had it would be the kickouts.

If you aren't rock crawling and you're careful (you'll need to be a tad more cautious without a lift/tires) you'll be fine. I beat the crap out of my skid plates when stock doing rock things but never came close on a normal trail.

Sliders are definitely pricey. Sounds like you may not really need them.

Addicted Dessert Designs, Relations Race Wheels both make attractive sliders. I know there are more but I was debating between those two myself and went with RRW

But those aren't true rock sliders, those are just steps. They're not bolted to the frame but instead the body so if you land on a rock you run the risk of pushing those into the body panels above.

For the ADD version, yes. The RRW website states they bolt to the frame.

I’ve narrowed it down to two options, Shrockworks or RRW. Ideally I’d be able to see both in the flesh, but that unlikely here in So. Utah. I’m gonna see if I can’t hold off until Overland Expo.

If you're in Utah, check out Rocky-Road. They have a kick out option as well, might be exactly what you're looking for

I have no experience with their rock sliders, but I did order suspension from them years ago and they had fantastic service

I like those RRW ones with the full plates (bookmarked for later). I actually use the side steps on my Ranger, but I don't like that mud, snow, and ice collects on them if I'm not driving on pristine roads. they're actually kinda dangerous when ice collects on them. I ate it hard on my driveway once last winter with icy steps. anyway, I've been thinking about replacing them with rock sliders that are also steps, but that have holes to let junk fall through.

I don't really off-road (though I do like mellower overland type off-roading) but I DO drive on gravel roads quite a bit.

A question to add here: Shrockworks has plates on the bottom of the frame and side, but all other models only have side mounts. Is there a benefit to the bottom plate? Does it add strength? I come from a world of weld on sliders, so bolt on is foreign to me. I don't mind drilling the hole, but I like the kick out on other models. If the strength of the bottom plate is worth giving up the kick out, I am fine with that.
The side of the frame is weak, it's little more than sheet metal on our Rangers. So the Shrockworks design is much stronger unless the welded side mount you are referring to has a large reinforcing plate to distribute the load across the entire face of the frame.

See how the Shrockworks bracket ties the side and bottom of the frame in the photo below. Thus the load is distributed.

Also look at the holes in the frame on the side.. see how thin it is. I was amazed.

I have the shrockworks and they work well. Bolt to the frame only. I even made use of them as a jacking point when I got a flat tire and had to put on the spare.
The sliders even did a decent job defending against the hit and run driver who sideswiped me at about 35 mph. still had door and fender damage but not near as much as i probably would have.
Please confirm how your Shrockwork sliders don't require drilling the one hole.

Did I miss where he said he didn't need to drill a hole?

Thanks. Kind of what I thought. The RRW have backing plates that mount to the inside of the frame, instead of below. Thoughts on which type of plates would be better? I like the kickouts, but don't want to sacrifice strength. I don't rock crawl, but I want my cab to be protected for when I get out and have to get over things.

I was wondering the same.

That one hole was almost the easiest part of the install TBH. Just wear eye protection. It's a quick process.

I can help with any pics or installation instructions if needed for the rrw ones. Just message me if you need help deciding.
