Hi guys and gals! This is my second Ranger, I drove a 94 XLT in high school. Later I bought a new 2009 Edge and put 160,000 miles on it before someone rear-ended me and totaled it. I decided I wanted a mid-size truck, so I settled for a Colorado (this was 2017, so I get a pass here guys). Unfortunately, I fell victim to the GM 8-speed transmission shudder. After several years of frustration, I sold it. A few months later, I tested the Ranger, and I had to have it! I'm thankful to be back in a Ford!

Colorado was one of the choices I narrowed it down for to. My brother in law had one and I believe it had the 6 speed in his. He had problems day one with the tranny.

He traded it in and got a Silverado with the 8 speed and now has the shudder issue. So that steered me away from the Colorado.

I will say I was nervous about having the turbo but I absolutely love this truck no complaints here.

welcome to the power rangers!

Had a Colorado before this, didn’t have a problem with it until I hit the speed limiter. Every time you hit the speed limiter of 98 mph, the check engine lights come on and decrease engine power to max 35 mph. Can’t get it fixed until you bring it into the dealer, then they gave me the hassle of “the computer said you were going around 100 mph” and charge me 250$ to change the air flow sensor. Happened twice the two times I hit the speed limiter. I’m sorry, but a brand new truck/car shouldn’t throw CEL’s/reduce engine power to dangerous speeds when at speed limiter.

Jebuzz Brandon - It’s a safety feature but for different reasons than you might think. The Colorado starts losing body panels, grilles, badging, wheels, etc. at 105 mph?

How big is the “Oh Crap” response when that light comes on and the engine cuts out at 100 mph?

reduce engine power to dangerous speeds” - because the safer speed was 100? Just saying’.

Why would anyone need to go 100 mph... new truck or not? ☠

Good looking truck Brandon. I too fell prey to the infamous GM 8 speed fiasco in 2017 with a GM plastic car. With that and a strange noise from the rear differential that GM would never own up to I just sold the car. Enjoy that new truck.

Congrats on your truck. My son has a 17' Colorado and it really is a nice truck!

As far as 100MPH comments....come on, 98% of us have driven 100mph or more at some point. Smart or not.....most of us have done it.

That would be out as any type of law enforcement vehicle. Often see mid sized 4x4 trucks as police vehicles in beach municipalities.

He lives in San Diego…probably on interstate 8 going to El Centro or Yuma, where there is a 8 mile stretch of 6 plus degree grade descent, usually with a tailwind. The CHP makes a living at the bottom of that grade. My wife set the family speed record there years ago that still stands in her work F150. There are several interstate descents in San Diego you can hit triple digits without trying…

Why would you do it twice?

this is true, but c'mon, you're being a total douche
perhaps the cops should stop you instead of a CEL
Oh, they have a few times at 90. Surprisingly, they just give me a verbal warning without actually writing down they gave a warning. I’m quite courteous to LE. Sorry, San Diego city rat life the avg is 80-85, so you can even zoom by a cop at 75-80 on a radar gun and they won’t bat an eye. Maybe I just got only nice cops and lucked out. But that’s my personal experience.

100%. Going to the desert a few times a year really opens up the road to some empty areas. Even not only on a descent, the interstates can get you in triple digits in no time with new cars.
Family speed record, sounds like a wild time hahah.
Fastest I’ve gone is 145 in a 2019 stingray on the 805 with a slight descent. After that day, I told myself to keep the horsies under 400, a little too much power I knew I could get myself trouble in.
