My gawd, why do EVs have to look so bad?

Some of my friends have Teslas - some of them used to have a Prius before that. I’ve even asked them why the heck they want to drive such an ugly car? Sure, it’s better looking than a Prius, but it‘s still ugly - dumbest hood line going. The stupidest looking thing on the planet is their Cyber Truck - what’s up with that? Gimme a truck that looks like a truck, not a movie prop or a gimmick. Pfffft.

Ford and GM will win if they are able to get the tech right because they have a real advantage when it comes to to design.
If I remember, Top Gear (british not american) had an episode where they drove the GM EV in Germany. it had some cool features like the steering wheel can be on either side of the car (movable).

One thing I have not thought about, there will have to be a standardization on charging stations for the charging plugs, otherwise someone will run out of battery and sue the charging station for not have a plug for their vehicle.

You’re right - no proprietary designs allowed - should be no different than gas pump nozzles. I remember when unleaded gas was introduced and the new cars had a smaller diameter filler hole - all unleaded pumps had to have a smaller diameter nozzle - the leaded pump was larger and wouldn’t fit.

It needs to be similar for EVs - a common standard is needed or it just won’t work. I’m not sure if it’s already in place or not.

Now, if only the cell phone companies would get their sh*t together on a common standard for charger cables. ?

If I remember correctly, the gas shortages in the 70's caused a large move to diesel engines in the late 70's to 80's. But in some places, diesel is hard to find or cost more than premium gasoline.
And a lot of conversions to propane.

I think there is some worry here, but I also think we (as a society) use less power due to better electronics in general (LEDs, greener appliances, etc) Does it offset the power draw of EVs? probably not yet, as a guess. It's something that should be discussed more, but will be politicized, naturally.

My wife and I are building a retire home, and will drop in a 50 amp circuit for EV. Just 1, though I'd like 2, but don't really see a need for 2. And, there will soon be EV wireless charging, via pads or built in, so that's the next phase.
Most of power used in homes is for HVAC

That wasn't for proprietary reasons. Its was to prevent putting leaded fuel in unleaded engines, which would ruin catalytic system.

Hi Folks,

My neighbor has a Tesla. All I can say is the Wrecker company knows them very well as it is a very normal event to see the rollback in their drive rolling the Tesla onto the platform to be yet again hauled to the repair facility. Rolling piece of junk IMO.
My personal experience is completely different. 2019 Model 3 Dual Motor Long Range. 100k miles in 2 years not a single issue. so far my costs have been tires and windshield wiper fluid. I've already spent more on my 2019 ranger just in oil changes.

I was incorrect. It was a hydrogen car.

C'mon Duke, you mean you wouldn't trade your beautiful white Ranger for this? ?

How many miles do you get when pulling a boat? Can it pull a boat? Can it help you move furniture? Really! I am curious.

I found this article but it's 2 years old and not sure if anything has been updated since then. Looks like it's capable of 500 miles and a towing capacity of over 14,000 lbs. What it doesn't say is what the ranger is pulling something that heavy. The camper is better looking than that hideous Cyber Truck.

When unveiling the Cybertruck, Tesla announced some impressive specs, including a range of up to 500 miles and a towing capacity of up 14,000 pounds:

With the ability to pull near infinite mass and a towing capability of over 14,000 pounds, Cybertruck can perform in almost any extreme situation with ease.

Where do I put my mitre saw and wheeled stand, my table saw, hammer drill case, oscillaing tool case, jig saw case, circ saws, reciprocating saws, impact driver, drill drivers, electrician’s pouch, batteries, chargers, extension cords, folding saw horse, table saw stand, tile saw, etc., etc., etc.? That doesn’t even include the building materials I need to put back there.

That ugly thing is as useless as it can get. Besides, you have to dress like this if you have one....

Those who own one don't work. Oh, and I think this is a more appropriate get up.

Two wrongs don’t make a right - both ugly. One sharp turn and the tailgate opens up that “camper” like a can of tuna. Clearly, this is CGI and not even a prototype - I’ve seen better PhotoShop - did they use MS Paint for this? Elon Musk should be the first to go to Mars...and soon.

Is there even room for a damper?
