Hi all

have a ranger with 4K on it. Does it have condition based service to tell me when it needs servicing.I’m figuring it’s due for an oil change real soon or even overdue

There's an oil life indicator in the menu. From the steering wheel buttons just scroll through the left dash cluster and you'll find it there tell the % left. If you have downloaded the Ford App it will show the oil life there too.

Just drain the oil in your storm drain. Then drive to the hardware store. They have chainsaw oil that works great. I've used it my whole life and so did my dad and his dad too.
Never had a problem and the additives are great for seating rings and cam rollers.
Cheaper if you get the 5 gallon pail and pretty easy to pour. If you miss some its ok, keeps the frame corrosion minimal.

*edit, adding to save extra money, do the filter every 3rd oil change. They're a bitch to get too and really, they suck at removing contaminants.

All my Japanese 1000cc bikes would legit have metal on the drain plug the first change that's pretty common my last few ford's weren't even close to that though

If he has had his Ranger for a year (or close) it is due regardless of the miles.

Sell it before it blows...you missed the critical break in change at 100 miles and then every 200 miles before your get to 2000 miles...didn't you read the manual?!
