Any idea what sized prefilter will fit the Mishimoto High-Flow Air Filter #4578 that comes with the intake?

Installed this intake more then a week ago. Had the AFE quantum in before. So far over the AFE the gas mileage is better. Still not hitting average advertised numbers. I did take it for a 5hr highway road trip and the mileage was down to 9.9 L/100 which is better then sticker, going 110-115km/h. Lost most the gains once off 400 series highways. I do notice that my trucks likes to cruise just under 2k rpm now even at city speeds which is nice. Power wise, feels better then stock, the AFE felt a bit more powerful however at a higher RPM and it destroyed mileage. I don’t usually step on the gas hard so the Mishi feels better.

my biggest complaints; no instructions (YouTube solved this) and hey Mishimoto how about including a few decals in the box!!! It’s free advertising. I did get a Chilli air freshener that lasted like a week...

My two cents. Can update after more driving if anyone is interested

T.

A cold air intake like such should not require a CARB number unless you live in California. Thankfully the intake does not modify emissions enough to cause major issues.

Apparently you’ve never saw the smog in LA in the 80s and 90s. It’s still there, but much better now.

I have seen pictures and my dad told me stories of how bad it was. I wont argue it has improved quite a bit over the years!! I just think its a bit rediculous when they dont let you touch your own vehicle.

That is a GREAT question!

It's tough to estimate, unfortunately, however obtaining CARB approval is still in process! We're still aiming to get those stickers, but we don't have an ETA at the moment. Best VERY rough estimate is still a few months out

Thanks,
Nick

Currently there’s an 8 model year smog exemption from new. If your paying the ā€œsmog abatement feeā€ on your registration you won’t be needing a smog until at least 2028. The only exception to that is initial registration from out of state.

I want to say it carts state by state. Colorado makes it where you only have to do tests in the Denver area after 6 years(maybe 7) and in the last year if ownership is transferred the test has to be done. Eveywhere else in the state you dont have to worry about it burt it doesnt mean remove all emission equipment.

I was speaking of California specifically. I have a current smog inspectors license and am current on those requirements. I double checked, and its still 8 model years old exemption for current owners, 4 years exemption for transfer of ownership. Don't throw away your old intake, should you need to sell your truck and have it pass a smog inspection.
