Headlight issue

For the past month my right headlight has been going out every so often. A simple tap on the headlight used to solve the problem, until a few nights ago. After trying my normal trick I was disappointed, so I switched my R&L bulbs and both work. Today I am going to be digging around the fuse box to see if I can find an issue there.

I am worried that this may be a wire short and I’m wondering if anyone knows of any simple solutions or ways to discover what my issue actually is.

I swapped all my headlight bulbs out after I bought my truck and they have been fine, maybe you had a bad bulb that finally failed?

did you look at the filament?
i've had many that would be broken, and would still make contact for a bit until they finally give up

It came back on yesterday and is now off today. Maybe the filament is giving up I really am not sure. At this point I’m almost willing to bring it in, but I want to try everything before I do. So any mor ideas would be great

easy enough to run to the auto parts store and buy a new halogen replacement bulb.........either it solves the problem or you know its something more. just a thought.

it’s not the bulb, the light has been constant since yesterday after popping the headlight a few times with the palm of my hand. I haven’t had an issue since then. I’m assuming this must mean a short, right? If the bulb was going I feel like hitting the damn thing would finally break the filament.

Could be the connector from the bulb to harness is not fully seated or contacts are dirty and the shock improved the connection (at least temporarily).

It is a short, and they don’t sell the part I need by itself. You have to by the whole wiring harness.
