That’s the equation, do I rebuild it to stock, to sell it in the future??
Why would it increase the resale value? Just like putting mods on in the first place--you don't get any money back out.

@Project Midnight can we get a photo of the statement from Ford that denied your warranty? The piece of paper that said “all the mods”?
I will try and get you all a quote, my wife, who was talking with Jamie, said they weren’t licensed to install “ Ford Performance “ products... so now you need a license??

Would you buy a heavily modified truck, vs something you knew was done to it?? I wouldn’t.

Rebuilding it to stock, so that you have a warranty, is more value, when you want to sell the truck, in the near future.

I understand your theory. I don't believe that it will have much effect on the bottom line, certainly not as much as it will cost. Book value is book value, and there isn't a line for "replaced half the stuff under the hood, some of it twice, to get back a few months of warranty coverage".

I would never buy any car or truck that is currently or had been modified. It’s akin to buying an Atv with a snorkel ... my presumption would be that it was rode hard and put up wet. I’m quite sure there would be someone that would buy it from you but at what market I’m not sure. IMHO you mod your truck to make it what you want but getting much out of it would be slim.

I pray it works out best for you and at the least extra expense.

I wouldn't buy any modified vehicle because I assume the previous owner drove it like an asshole. :) I also don't expect to see a giant discount because they can just sell it for book value to the next sucker that comes along.

But book works both ways. What I was referring to originally was the phenomenon where someone gets told the book value of their car is $x, but they insist they put $y into it so it must be worth more. Nobody cares what you spent on it, it doesn't really change the value which is set by averages, supply/demand, and how it looks to a naive buyer.

Is this "core charge" a dealer charge or from FMC added to the new motor? He might not get the hit at another dealership but the cost of putting it back together an moving it might cancel any savings.

Not accurate. Everything you say is correct but they do have to tell him Exactly why the claim is denied and for what reason. Ford provides this to the dealer and they should in turn provide it to the customer. They DO have a basis to deny the claim from what has been posted in the last 55 pages but until it is in writing, on Ford letterhead, the fat lady hasn't sung.
Striker, could have used you earlier... we have requested pics, etc, from the dealer, Ford, symptoms, etc... but we’ve received nothing from Ford...

Ford charges the dealer for the core. It is credited to them when Ford receives it. Would not be that unusual for a dealer having 100k worth of cores floating around.

I bought a 12 year old '97 ford cobra with 4.10's an a short throw shifter...I assumed the previous owner hammered it daily....an I did too. Never had a problem with the car but when my twins were getting close to 16 I traded it for a Harley.

That’s what I’m looking into, I don’t believe in the original quote, seems kinda high to me... I’m just looking into the best situation between the ones trying to help me ?

So I'll ask one more time, What is 5 star doing about this? You paid good money for a warranty though them and shouldn't be going through all this BS. I know things don't happen overnight but you're going into the third month now? If Ford is denying to cover it than I'm guessing that both Ford and 5 Star are trying to work things out?

I had to replace the motor in my '14 focus. I didn't know the fan was damaged when I hit an animal an got stuck in a traffic jam. I tried to work my way out of it to the shoulder but the damage was done fast. It was ok for a while but kept getting worse.

I found a used motor with a warranty an paid an independent shop under a grand for the install. I got away with about $1800. It ran an dove fine but I didn't know the history of the motor so I traded it in a few months later.

I hope you find a viable solution soon
