So on the 2019+ Ford Ranger Owners USA Facebook group, someone posted that there is a GSB for the spongy brake pedal in the Ranger. He said they measured the travel and bleed the system and that, in his opinion, fixed the issue. He said the GSB (General Service Bulletin) is GSB 21-7002. I tried to Google it and could not find anything yet. Just putting this out there.

Whatever happened to simple problem solving?

Customer: My brakes are spongy
Shop: We'll check it out. Probably needs to be bled.
...About an hour later
Customer: My brakes feel great now. Thanks!

That's why I really like this forum. Someone on it always seems to have access to stuff we simple folk can't seem to find out there.

THANK YOU for posting this! I have been plagued with mushy, inconsistent brake feel, so much so that i hated driving it. Just had it over to the dealer to have this done and can confirm it fixes 98% of the spongy inconsistent pedal feel. Brakes are not touchy either after procedure, just slightly higher pedal, and little less pedal travel till brakes engage. I recommend having this done if you hate having mushy brake feel. Thanks again!!!

It is worth a chance. Worse thing they can say is it within spec. I am taking my Ranger back at the end of the month to have the leather seat bottom on my driver seat replaced and I will ask them to do the GSB.

So what did they say about performing the test. Any pushback or results of the test?

They said my brakes and pedal travel were within specs. I am just used to it now. I had a loaner 2021 Ranger while they did the work and the brakes felt the same on it.
