Without looking at the Transit manual, I would say you are looking in the right direction, if you are only having issues with hi-way drives and it does fine in city driving.
I really appreciate your thoughts on this!
A vacuum issue might explain my combination of symptoms.
(Please see above, for my "additional details" notes.)

Have a great weekend!

If your Transit van is a diesel check the vacuum pump.

The only time I have ever seen this is a failed master cylinder in the worst way, and it would allow the brake pedal to go to the floor while only providing partial stopping power. Scary, but you could usually get 1-2 stops before it lost brake pressure. Yea, very dangerous and something to not take lightly!

Hey Joshua - I just joined the Forum, but I wanted to catch up with you, about this long-ago issue you were having with your brakes. Did you ever find a fix for it ?
I am having an almost identical problem with my Ford Transit.

Hey guys-
Here's an update on my random NO BRAKES situation: (on a 2019 Ford Transit)
My dealer replaced both the ABS computer and the brake booster.
So far, the symptoms have not resurfaced.
So I -think- my brake issue is now resolved. Time will tell.

Thank you to everyone who provided advice thru this process!
