If you really need the lift get the icons, but if your patient and want the the reservoir setup, that can withstand plenty of punishment like maybe an occasional offroad jump from dirt hills than wait! The icons can take a few punishments you throw at it, but you’ll be reordering or repacking the seals in them, most likely!
I agree. I’m waiting for the fox setup to come out as I plan to do some aggressive desert running in the truck.

What the heck is Radflo?
Is that a serious question?! Those guys are up there with the big names in suspension technology and racing. Radflo guys know their sh1t and wouldn't hesitate to run them over the other popular brands.

Yep, it was a serious question. Meant no offence by it, just have never heard the name before.

No worries, and sorry if my post came off as defensive. It was mostly in jest. But yeah Radflo is worth taking a look if you want a good quality rebuildable, tunable shock. They may not having the marketing dollars of big companies like Fox and King but they make a damn good product.

Just got an email back (very quickly) from Radflow. They will have a front and rear 2.5” with remote reservoir and or compression adjuster out “shortly”.:like:

Did you know that our Fx4 shocks have kangaroos on them?

I would assume that is a little tip of the hat to AU ford? Or they devieloed it and ford NA is using it.

I don't know if this has been posted yet but here is a pretty detailed video on "Ready Lifts" 3" front/1" rear kit.
I’ll definitely be one of their first customers. Just need to figure out whether I’m going with the 2” (almost) leveling kit or the 3” front & 1” rear SST kit. I like the idea of keeping one inch of rake because I do haul often and will tow occasionally. I’m keeping my stock wheels with the 55mm offset and adding Falken WildPeak A/T3W tires in a 275/65-18 size.

It’s interesting what they said in the video about squeezing 33” tires in with the stock wheels, I think he was referring to the 3&1 SST lift kit. Also the tip about adjusting the front crash bars to gain 1/2 inch was interesting as well.

I think I should be able to squeeze my tire choice on stock 18” wheels with the 2” leveling kit. I don’t want to over-stress the cv joints on the front end by keeping them running at an high angle, it seems like they would be more prone to failure, the higher the angle. So that has me leaning towards 2” instead of 3” in the front. What’s confusing to me is that the ReadyLift kits for the 2” or 3” lift in front end are significantly different. The 2” kit uses pieces on the top and bottom top of the strut, whereas the 3” kit only uses a spacer on the top; I thought that was bizarre so maybe someone can explain that to me.

2" kit only uses spacers of whatever thickness needed according to the suspension motion ratio to achieve lift.

3" replaces the entire OEM strut top mount and pre-loads the coil spring (makes ride stiffer) as well as being thicker overall to lift the front.

If you want a level truck and haul often, have you looked into air springs? Though I don't think any are available yet, but Pacbrake should be working on one, I'm sure other companies are too.

cheers

Thank you, and no I haven’t considered air springs in the back yet. I’ll have to take a look at them if I find that the rear end is sagging a bit too often for me.

I made a call to tech support at ReadyLift and learned some things about the kits and the truck itself. First the cv joint issue is a non-issue with the Ranger because the front end is vacuum actuated AT EACH HUB not the differential; meaning that those cv joints aren’t moving unless the vehicle is in 4WD. That was great news! He echoed what you mentioned about the difference in the kits. He seemed to think that even though the 3” kit preloads the coil spring, that if I were putting softer riding tires with a 3/4” larger sidewall that the difference in ride would be a wash. He said the 2” kit would actually increase total down-travel and would definitely keep the suspension feeling as good as stock. So a 2” front kit plus my proposed tires would actually equal a better ride. Still on the fence but it seems either kit should work nicely.

The kit MIGHT drop onto their website today, better make my mind up fast!

Anyone have any comments on King shocks before I order them? I’m getting the Coilovers and rear pair both with compression adjustment.
