Lately I have felt a bit of a thud or small jolt in low speed (20-35 mph). It worried me a bit, it's only just started happening. I don't want to be the guy who runs to the dealer with a complaint, only to have them not be able to replicate and sent away. I don't have that kind of time. Anybody else feel this? Thoughts on this? What should I watch for if this is a sign of things to come?

Thanks

We don't seem to have that issue on our FX4?

Suggestion: Keep an eye on the dash and what gear the issue is happening at. See if it's random, or only during gear shifting from # gear to # gear.

When my engine/transmission are cold first thing in the morning I always start down the street a bit slow to let things warm up gently. The very very first up shift of the day is a bit hard and could be described as a jolt. It's very predictable. Happens at almost the exact same spot on the road each time. Once I'm past that first shift it never happens again the rest of the day and the transmission is remarkably smooth in my opinion. Is this similar to the jolt you are experiencing? Mine has been doing this since I bought the truck a bit over a year ago. I think it's just the nature of the tranny when it's cold. Doesn't seem to have any negative impact on the tranny at all.

I believe as well it is related to the trans fluid being cold. I've never felt what you and a few others previously have described until it was rather chilly here in Florida one morning, about 40 F. At that temp the shift was slightly rough. Nothing to complain about though.

We've had a cold snap lately in my area. That would make sense.

It's been below freezing here for the first time since I bought the truck. That would be consistent with what you're seeing, with an unusual weather change. Thanks for the input.

I had a similar incident a while back, but just happened one time. I was cruising on the highway, about 80-ish, and let off the throttle as I started to approach traffic doing around 70. As I stepped on the throttle (maybe 3/4 throttle) to continue on my way the truck downshifted and the was a loud 'thud' that I could feel, as if I ran over a strip of semi tire or something (road was clear, nothing on road). At that point I dropped down to 65 and tried to assess the situation, everything seemed fine...no weird noises, vibrations, dash lights, etc. Like I said, just a one-time thing and no issues before or after.
