Does the adaptive learning transmission continue to "learn" or does the learning process stop after a period or distance?

Immediately after purchase I made a 1000 mile all-highway trip from Iowa to my home in Wyoming. Now that it's being driven "normally" as a daily driver the transmission doesn't shift as smoothly as I believe it should, particularly in the lower gears. It doesn't seem to like my driving style. Although I typically drive 3-4 MPH over posted, I tend to be "light on the gas." I'm wondering if it's a "learning" issue. The truck was built in April so has the latest transmission TSB (check with the selling dealer's service mgr). Cut off for that TSB was pre-February build. The local dealer indicates the transmission can be "zeroed out" IOT relearn but that has to be done by the dealer. Disconnecting the battery doesn't do it.

The learning has to actually do with specific types of events. So if you had a 1000 mile highway drive, you won't have learned any (or very much I should say) of the low speed stuff.

Things do seem to change over time. I'm over 3k now, and I see second gear a lot more.

Funny you mention that because I noticed 2nd gear is a rare occasion. I have 2k miles.

Right. Second is rare, especially unloaded. Towing it tends to use all gears.

That was true for me until recently. Now it hits second fairly often. My best guess is that it's related to break in programming.

Good point. As a matter of fact,I think I am actually seeing 2nd some now (3200 miles).

I was curious about this too. My truck had the PCM reset per the TSB, it has never shifted great. I am getting close to 1k on it since the PCM was updated and reset.
I still get some hard 3 to 4 shifts...completely jumps 2.
Some of the shifting feels like going backwards before a bit of a kick forward. I was hoping it would be learning more by now, but I am going to take into dealer hopefully this week ( if i can find some free time).
I also have driving 45mph and it's in 8th, if I lift off the gas and it starts slowing. Sometimes it does a hard drop into 7th, noticeable.

Anyone else notice this kind of activity and did it seem to calm down?
