Just wondering if anyone’s got a “high“ mileage ranger without having problems. Big or small and picture of your mileage would help legitimize claim. Thanks

There's a few on here that have and I know Sid @Msfitoy has over 55,000 flawless miles on his. You can see his build here and a picture of his OD with his mileage. We still have no idea were he goes to get those miles but I'll stick by my initial thought that he's homeless and lives in it. ?

So far I have 37,600 on my truck and the only major issue I had was the HVAC box warping causing the temps to be either full hot or full cold. Other then that I haven't had any issues. Over all I would say the Ranger is a pretty good truck even on the first model year.

56,000ish and flawless.

Literally half of them between March and October. I tow a fair bit, too.

Do you have emissions inspection where you live?

No, so if they decided to be d!cks about it I'll just install my own high-flow cat.

Do we have two cats? A down pipe cat at a full size one?

Ya beat me to it Dave. But, I still suspect that Sid @Msfitoy has an herb garden somewhere in a rural area of North Carolina. You know that herb gardens need a lot of care. :)

Why not just deleted the converter all together?

Based on my limited knowledge of anything built after 1977 :inspect:.... it appears to me there's a catalytic converter, and there is a flex joint, you can see them to the left side of the photo below.

That's probably why he likes his lights so much. After a visit to the herb garden he flashes back to the 70's.:sunglasses:

I want the sound deadening of a cat since I think the exhaust tone on these is garbage, and I care for the environment more than I can for the other "benefits."

The Cat is in the downpipe which isn't something you cut and or gut anyways. The truck will stink terribly with it out too. Unless you're needing EXTREME flow for a larger turbo, I recommend to everyone to leave it alone.

As for the cat degraded part, do you ever push the skinny pedal hard for a few seconds or more? If no, then you should try the good old "Italian tune up" procedure on a long E-way entrance ramp.

Basically get the exhaust gasses flowing hot and heavy in the cat to burn out any extra carbon that might have built up from using to light of pressure on the skinny pedal.
