I just picked up the Ranger for the first trip to dealer for fuel dilution of 4.3%. I changed it myself for the first time after 860 miles and the oil reeked of gas smell.
I opened a Ford Customer Complaint before taking it in per suggestion of Forum, which was a great suggestion.
I got it back today and they reported "no abnormal odors detected from oil and the level (1,000 miles since I changed it) is correct. Performed EEC diag. No DTC's stored in PCM. Fuel trims are normal. Performed fuel pressure leak down and no loss detected. No SSM's or TSB's found at this time. No repairs are necessary at this time."
So, at this time (1900 miles) I don't have a rising oil level problem, just the fuel dilution noted after my first change at 860 miles. Interestingly, the dealer called Ford to report their findings under the complaint number I gave them, only told the case was closed!
Any thoughts, suggestions??
Thanks!
