Going to be hitting the trails in the Ranger. Then there is hitting the hwys on the 15 Street glide. In the cold weather I build model cars. When I can I have a 71 Buick Sportwagon, and a two dr Crown Victoria I am working on. I also dabble in Car Audio, dog training. Been told I ave to many hobbies.

I'm in the school shop building a 6ft snow roller. These are used in the XC industry to pank down snow. (cross country skiing) Bottom photo is what they look like.

Hi Folks,

I will relate my chain saw experience. Neighbor had a Century Plant... Like many desert plantings they have a finite life and this plant raised its death Stalk up about 12' in the air and over the next year died. These huge thorned fronds are vicious. So to remove this huge plant I helped the neighbor cut down the stalk and cur off the fronds. In shorts and a tee shirt I got soaked with the "juice" of the fronds of the plant. That night I was in terrible pain...nothing would help my whole front side was "on fire". Nothing would help and I had welts the size of quarters all over my front side of my body except for the Crotch...which was thankfully protected... I web search in agony showed me my problem. This juice is not harmful but is highly loaded with oxciallac acid crystals which look like little daggers and impinge the skin through the skin and welt up big time. There is nothing to do but endure until these crystals disolve...several days. so after several sleepless nights the pain started subsiding. Live in Arizona, have a chain saw? Avoid giant agave and such as the chain saw provided a launching pad for the crystals to embed in the skin.

I had the exact same experience helping a neighbor except I was wearing a short sleeve shirt so it was just my arms, neck, and a portion of my face. Miserable couple of weeks.

With enough snow in our forecast to warrant removal, I started to put pods back on da boss today. (Boss is a model made by Polaris) 1st photo is what it normally looks like. Of cosure the front pods go on next. The rear ones weight about 100lbs each. Fronts are feather light at just 70!

I'll get the front pods on this morning and will be pushing snow asap. We got wind and plenty of drifts happening here. I'll get photos since you guys seem to like this. :)

Front pods got installed. The first 2 is whats called "pod anti-rotation brackets" installation. After that and the plow, out the door for a little snow dozing. This silly machine can really, really push snow,,,,, and peel the yard dirt up. :frown:

We got a tab of a snow overnight, so da boss and plow came out again this morning. The green little roof is over our compost pile. Helps to keep the moisture lower.

Arly, that thing is like a tank ! Bret
Yes it can push a bit. When I was setting it up with its 6ft blade, I had experts saying "you can't put that blade on a ATV, its for a truck! Of course the people who said that are not familiar with 6x6's or pods. I had to build my own push frame since pods puts the blade more forward and modify the plow plate somewhat, which was made for the boss parent machine, a Sportsman. Lots of work, but it does push snow!

I messed with old Corvette's for years, but we decided to get a new one that was more reliable. So, since retirement I needed a new hobby to help keep me out of the wife's hair. Oddly that hobby became old bicycles. Below is a 1961 J.C. Higgins "Flightliner", a 1980 Schwinn "Collegiate" I found along the way, and a 1973 Schwinn "Lil Chik" that I did for a friend. I do enjoy riding the two big bikes. There's always a lot of questions, and memories from folks you meet on the trails. I also pick up old kids bikes, refurb them, and give them to kids in the neighborhood that for whatever reason don't have their own.
