Hi Chris,I appreciate your feedback! Like I said, the first set of CVs that I had it was on a completely stock truck. I did off-road my truck a lot even in stock form. What actions could I take to have someone take a look at my truck and maybe find out the actual problem? Other than taking it to a different dealership what are my options? Could I be off roading my truck too hard LOL??
Not likely you off roaded your truck in such an extreme manor without other damage, like bent spindles, bent steering arms or the like. So if this is the case, which I have only seen once before at Ford. The tell of the tape was an alignment which showed this owner jumped his truck way beyond off roading. So not knowing what too hard means, get an alignment done to determine if something is bent. You indicated a 2" lift....who did the lift? Did you do it and the CV came apart as other forum user have had happen? Or did a shop do it and not tell you? It is very hard to diagnose certain maladies. I recommend doing a complete mind dump on what you did, how you drove, even if the cigar lighter failed....I know...what does this have to do with the suspension, and likely nothing, but just do a complete mind dump of things. Do you run spaces? These increase the loads into the steering system for example beyond just increasing the scrub radius.
A couple folks have indicated a clicking at high steering angle. Did you land your truck at right or left lock for example.
A 2" lift should not require a diff drop under most circumstances, but your usage off road might indicate something needs to be checked more than just replacing the axles with more of the same which is where you are now. Be honest with the dealer and if they are not receptive, then find another dealer.
Hope you can get your problem figured out.
Best,
