I appreciate your feedback! Like I said, the first set of CVs that I had it was on a completely stock truck. I did off-road my truck a lot even in stock form. What actions could I take to have someone take a look at my truck and maybe find out the actual problem? Other than taking it to a different dealership what are my options? Could I be off roading my truck too hard LOL??
Hi Chris,

Not likely you off roaded your truck in such an extreme manor without other damage, like bent spindles, bent steering arms or the like. So if this is the case, which I have only seen once before at Ford. The tell of the tape was an alignment which showed this owner jumped his truck way beyond off roading. So not knowing what too hard means, get an alignment done to determine if something is bent. You indicated a 2" lift....who did the lift? Did you do it and the CV came apart as other forum user have had happen? Or did a shop do it and not tell you? It is very hard to diagnose certain maladies. I recommend doing a complete mind dump on what you did, how you drove, even if the cigar lighter failed....I know...what does this have to do with the suspension, and likely nothing, but just do a complete mind dump of things. Do you run spaces? These increase the loads into the steering system for example beyond just increasing the scrub radius.

A couple folks have indicated a clicking at high steering angle. Did you land your truck at right or left lock for example.

A 2" lift should not require a diff drop under most circumstances, but your usage off road might indicate something needs to be checked more than just replacing the axles with more of the same which is where you are now. Be honest with the dealer and if they are not receptive, then find another dealer.

Hope you can get your problem figured out.

To reply to your answer, the truck was completely stock when the first set of CVs failed. The alignment could of been out of wack from the dealership I guess. After the leveling kit was installed with the new tires and rims I took it and got it aligned right away. I guess it is possible that buying the truck off the lot, it could have had an inproper alignment. The new set of CV axles were installed the day after I installed the leveling kit and bigger tires. Is it possible that after installing the leveling kit and bigger tires and then getting it aligned that once the new CV axles were installed the next day could have thrown it out of alignment again? On my first set of CV axles when the truck was completely stock the clicking would happen at full steering lock in 4-wheel drive in both directions, when I switch back to 2 wheel drive I would not hear the anything. Now on my second set of CV axles with the larger tires and 2-inch leveling kit I can only hear the passenger side clicking slightly. It happens when I am at some articulation in the wheel. Steering is straight though. I also hear it at full steering lock as well.

This is a common issue on the F150s. If you drop the hub off the axil while putting on your lift then you run the risk of getting the infamous IWE clicking in 4wd soon after. Ive done this on my F150 4x4 and had to replace both hubs. I had zero issues when I lifted my Ranger because I didn't drop the hubs from the shafts and damage the IWE's. Im running a massive -12mm offset @ 26k miles with no clicking.

Another reason you didnt damage the IWE's on your truck is simple. The ranger doesnt have IWE's. The hubs are always engaged to the axles so the unly thing that controls the 4wd is the transfercase.

Beat me to it. No disconnect in the front diff either, like some of the early 2000s f150s.
Thats why the 4wd models take a hit in mpg over the 2wd models (2-3 mpg). If you're used to old stuff its similar to drivin around with the hubs locked in 24/7.

Hey guys I'm just trying to figure out if this is a common issue. I just had both CVs Axel's replaced in my 2019 XLT FX4. They were clicking in 4WD while turning (5800miles with Stock tires). Now 1000 miles later on 33s the passenger side is doing it again. Thoughts?? I do live in Colorado and take my truck Off Road alot. Not doing anything Ford hasn't advertised. Wanting to try and figure out a solution. If this keeps happening I will look into getting RVCs custom made.
Edit:
So after talking to RCV performance and some other friends of mine who have the same truck. So what's actually happening is the CV is overextending just to the point of where it is wearing it out and not pulling it completely out. At least that's what they think. And seeing that there is multiple posts and Google searchs saying that this is a common problem I'm guessing that this is mine too. How has Ford not realize that this is a problem?I'm currently running the stock shocks which have no suspension travel whatsoever. I was looking into getting a longer travel shock such as a fox coilover or a king set up. But now I'm too scared to do it with the extra travel I will gain will I just pull the CV out completely all the time. my buddy is replacing his CV and he has the fox 2.0 is that Ford offers as a Ford performance part and he just pulled his CV out of the inner joint over the weekend Wheeling it on a light Trail.
