No you're wise...I'm 60ish and have too vivid of an imagination...what if a tire popped at that speed? A pickup truck would not fair well...

Especially with the stock tires (I don't have that much faith in them) or y'all running the bigger off road type tires. Once I get my new wheels and tires mounted, no worries then.

I don't know man...a failure of any tire/suspension at this speed on a pickup truck and you're not having an easy spin...more like snap rolls (at least 10 or more) that'll probably be fatal...

My stock tires are rated for 118mph. That is, sustained 118mph. I highly doubt offroad/all terrain tires are rated any higher.

I've hit the limiter in the truck a few times. It gets a little floaty but still predictable. Having comfort in your vehicles handling and a little common sense goes a long way.

My dad's 03 F250 with the V10 was limited to 97mph. At top speed, a sudden Lane change carried me across 4 Lanes of highway just to keep the nose pointed straight. On a scale of 10, that had an asshole pucker size of 12.

I'll be replacing the stock tires with Cooper Discoverer H/T Plus's, which are a "all weather performance and handling" tire. I tried to find a speed rating on them, but no luck. I've had them on my last 2 Ram 1500's and they are a great all around tire, even in snow. And I'll be lowering my Ranger once Bell Tech releases it's lowering system which will help a lot with the handling.

I had one of those "extreme pucker" incidents in my week old 2013 Ram Sport 4x4....driving from Dallas to Wichita Falls TX, we were going around a slight curve on Hwy 287, raining, doing 80 (speed limit was 75) and gave it a little gas.....the rear end kicked out about 2-3 ft. If I would have had a lump of coal in my arse, I would've shat a diamond. Got rid of those crappy stock tires about 2 months later.

The Cooper's are also T rated, max speed of 118. The weight is also comparable to OEM, so you won't see a huge mpg hit.

I did thousands of miles on that stretch back in the day when all you could do is 55mph and heavily patroled. Imagine how boring that ride was with NOTHING to look at.

Ive been 120 in my tuned Ranger with the limiter removed. Would not reccommend it for any kind of distance but it will get there quicker than you think lol

So how fast did the police car run?

Not sure. They had traffic holding on the on ramps and a few miles ahead. It was a rather quick run. With 707 hp and a claimed top speed of 196 mph, the car wants to go fast. Mashed the gas and hit 181 mph then the lead cops came back into view so I had to shut it down. Never had any pucker factor. Hood was shaking a lot but the car felt planted and never had an oh shit feeling. Just let off the gas and coasted back down to 100-110 no problem.

Unlike doing 134 mph in a police Tahoe. That sucker was floating all over the road and let you know real quick driving a brick that fast is not a good idea. My 2017 GT350 was limited to 166 mph. That car felt super planted at that speed. Felt very comfortable and safe maintaining that speed for a 1/2 - 3/4 of a mile.

Back in my youth I had a 69 Mach 1 that would hide the the 140 mph speedo pointer. But at that speed it was obvious that the front air dam and rear spoiler were for looks, not function.
