Got email confirmation from Bestop that this will fit. Ordered one and it will be here Saturday!
Excellent! Thanks for letting us know Bestop confirmed it will fit with a hitch.

Just ordered the Bestop.com Bed Step. Should be here on Saturday. Can’t wait to install it. Spent this weekend loading and unloading yard waste and using a small ladder to get in and out of the bed sucked!
We get into the bed to put our kayaks on the roof and always have to bring a step ladder along to help us get in and out. Kind of a nuisance. This step is definitely on my list for the spring.

I do hope someone makes a step like the Bestop, but for a bit less $$. I like it, but buy the time it gets to Canada the price goes nuts.

Hi IdriveG5,

Agree with the Flareside...Not the name. Splash is the sound of Turd hitting the water.... We had a "contest" inside the company on the name...Splash won out or said Marketing...None of the Truck Engineers voted for this name, so the bean counters won this one...Awful name...

What was second place?...what could it have been called?

Hi Greg.

Results were never published, so it remains a mystery to this day. My take is they decided on the name Splash but tried to boost morale by holding a "contest" when the name was already decided. :)

It's basically an aftermarket add-on similar to the new GM multi tailgate. Seems a little on the extreme side with the size, but if that's what you're doing most of the time, then I'm sure it's worth it and helpful. For me, the size, weight, and in getting in the way when it's stored makes it not worth it for me.

The under bumper Bed Step is the all round best solution for occasional step in and out requirements. It tucks up nicely and is foot activated as well as putting no extra strain on the tailgate. Mine arrives tomorrow. Hope to install it by Sunday.

It said back ordered when I ordered mine, but it shipped the next day. I ordered mine on Tuesday.

Keeping my finger crossed.
How difficult was it to install?

Bed Step arrived today and I got it installed without any major issues. I must say, it’s a tight fit between the lower fender and the mounting bracket as you try to get the bolts in that mount it to the Frame and bed mount! You’re literally working blind. But, it’s in and works as advertised. I must say the spring that hold the step in the up position is a little weak for my liking but I don’t think it will let the step deploy unless a strong bump is encountered. I intended to take numerous assembly pictures, but since there was nothing I could see while installing the mount, there just a couple pictures where I removed the rear bed bolt and the wire harness that has to be moved and secured with zip ties.

Thanks for the update and pics - it looks great! I think it was P0P's that also mentioned the spring appeared weaker than he expected. I like the close fit to the bumper when retraced. Assume that's it's easy to climb up and down into the bed? Let us know how it works out over the next couple of weeks.
