I agree. Looks simple and functionalI personally think that all trucks should have this as a standard. It seems simple enough and already engineered for mass production.
Thanks for the update and pics - it looks great! I think it was P0P's that also mentioned the spring appeared weaker than he expected. I like the close fit to the bumper when retraced. Assume that's it's easy to climb up and down into the bed? Let us know how it works out over the next couple of weeks.Bed Step arrived today and I got it installed without any major issues. I must say, it’s a tight fit between the lower fender and the mounting bracket as you try to get the bolts in that mount it to the Frame and bed mount! You’re literally working blind. But, it’s in and works as advertised. I must say the spring that hold the step in the up position is a little weak for my liking but I don’t think it will let the step deploy unless a strong bump is encountered. I intended to take numerous assembly pictures, but since there was nothing I could see while installing the mount, there just a couple pictures where I removed the rear bed bolt and the wire harness that has to be moved and secured with zip ties.
The step is a bit narrow. At least in comparison to the one I had on my 2017 Taco. It is about half under the Tailgate (from the Left edge) as I have it set up. The last picture shows what it looks like from up on the tailgate. So you’re close to the tailgate getting up and down. But given the bumper profile, it would stick out pretty far to the Left edge of the lower bumper if it was any wider or I adjusted the Step further to the Left. A decent compromise to have it look good and not be too conspicuous. Thanks for the update and pics - it looks great! That looks like a Drawtite, is it?
Thank you for the link and all the photos! When I go to Bestop's site, I cannot find the step unless I use your link. The step is a bit narrow. At least in comparison to the one I had on my 2017 Taco.
