Which model ARE? Is that the CX?

As far as Snugtops......are they only available out west? I haven't seen this mentioned before, but I just checked out their website and dealer locator (I'm in MD) says closest dealer is in Oklahoma.....1,500 miles away!

Leer 100XR - Cactus Gray, Headliner, Removable front slider, LED Dome light. $2300 + $80 installation. This is my second Leer and third topper overall. No complaints yet. In the past, I have replaced the dampers more than once, rear window and side window locks broke or stopped working. Dome lights never lasted. No sliding rear window in truck to sliding front window in topper is wasted. I just want secure, dry storage...fits the bill.

Does the front slider come in handy for cleaning the rear truck window, or would you be able to clean it with a fixed window?

Actually, the whole front window pops out pretty easy and thats how I would do it. But I don't think I even did that more than 2 or 3 times (in 8 years) with my last one. I just aim the water hose that way every now and then. Rear visibility is greatly impacted due to the small rear window of the topper and looking through 3 layers of tinted glass, a clean rear truck window has never been much of a concern to me.

Because......? I know its stainless steel, requires assembly, has windows. From cost to wait times, do you have a sense of why it pencils out over fiberglass brands?
I have the Adventure model (EVOa) It comes with MOLLE panels for the doors. The struts can hold a good amount of weight. I have lots of pouches and equipment mounted to the panels. I say that in itself is a huge benefit over the traditional windows on a fiberglass cap.

The additional components that can be mounted to the cap also make it more usable. I have one full size bin mounted on the passenger side and I have the table mounted to the underside of the roof. A.) I now have organized storage that is up off the ground and B.) I have the table up out of the way which makes it easily accessible. The table is the first thing I grab and the last thing to get put away. Fiberglass shells do not have these options.

I also have recovery boards mounted to the outside of the door panels. That is yet another thing that cannot be done with fiberglass shells.

And last but not least, I have my RTT mounted to the roof. Yes, some reenforced fiberglass shells can take the weight but not as much as the steel cap. I'm a heavy dude and need all the load capacity that I can get.

As for wait times......be patient. I waited months for mine but I'm going to have it on there for years so I think it's worth it. They are opening a factory in the US but who knows how long that will take.

Cheers!

@lazynorse Short bed Ranger caps are expected to ship in end of July. As @DrewKD88 said, there are so many additional things you can get to make your Smartcap awesome for camping/overlanding/etc. You can have molle panels inside, a camp kitchen in one of the windows, a stow-away stainless steel table that slides into the ceiling of your cap, and much more. They're super strong since they're made of steel instead of fiberglass which makes them no problem for RTT's. They're also made in 5 pieces making storage an absolute breeze. It's not easy to remove and store a fiberglass cap, I've tried. These caps are worth the price and the wait, I assure you of that.

Let me know if you want any more info or want to order one. We are the #1 dealer in the US for Smartcaps and consider ourselves experts on the subject.

so in your opinion it would be easy to disassemble for storage? the importer here says the joints should be better sealed with window glue to make it waterproof...?

If installed properly, your cap should be weather proof. I wouldn't recommend gluing your cap sides together.
