I made me a nice trailer like that from a 1967 donor truck. All I really wanted was the new 230 CI straight 6 under the hood. Bought it at an wrecker impound lot for $270, the holding fee. They could sell any vehicle after 90 days for the $3 / day holding fee. Pay the holding fee and the vehicle is yours, but with a salvage title.

Got it home and found the engine had a blown out freeze plug. That got me curious and I did a little checking.... Turns out it was owned by a convicted murderer who was captured after a tense high speed chase. He blew out the freeze plug running from the police. I guess he couldn't pay the fee as he was incarcerated.

Once I discovered this gem of a fact, I pulled the drive train, made my trailer, and sold the cab to a metal recycler for $25.

I find it interesting that anyone would attempt to outrun the law in a Chevy pickup truck with an inline 6 and a "3 on the tree" manual transmission.

The engine went into my 1966 2 door Chevy II. Same color and model as this one... It even had the same chrome rings and center hubcaps (Chevy used the 1965 Malibu SS wheel covers on the 1966 Chevy II SS).

It was dog slow!
