1. When aisles and spaces are narrow, parking and pulling out is easier.
2. Better backup visibility using mirrors and backup camera.
3. When up against a parking block or curb, truck is further into the space.
4. Better pull out visibility.

If I will need my tailgate to load something I do not back in. Otherwise I do back it in because I prefer the better vision when leaving a spot since people have their heads in their phones all the time.

I don’t see well. I can only get a license with a doctor’s note. It’s much easier for me to see. Also my other truck has a cap that, due to its design, makes it hard to see backing out of a space. I either back in or grab a pull through. It’s very rare I have to back out of a spot.

I always back into a spot mostly because my field of view is better to see anyone coming through the parking lot. I've avoided many accidents this way because most don't pay attention and just fly right through the parking lots. If you're backing up you have to many blind spots and I've had people cut right in behind me almost taking out my bumper.

Plus I always park far away in the rear of the lot but that never stops someone from still parking next to me.?‍♂

Very interesting replies. Strange that I don’t see the most common reason. Maybe it’s a Southeast Alabama thing. Backing in so significant other can’t easily spot your tag.
Of course, this does not apply to me. I have enough trouble pulling into parking space. Not about to back in.?

States with front plates make that a moot point.

I almost always pull in head on out of habit unless there is a particular reason to back in such as needing to load something in the bed. I find spaces where there is plenty of room to park and prevent door dings such as at this physical therapy appt. last week. The previous week I was parked here and an F-150 squeezed in right next to me when there were lots of open spaces on the other side...

Other than needing to make a quick get-away. Why would you back in when parking?

My brother-in-law is in law enforcement and he always backs in. Presumably to get out faster, if needed.

I used to back in all-of-the-time. Then I realized; If I back in, this leaves the front exposed (hate it when that happens) and if I get hit, they're most likely going to mangle the front of my Ranger, which, I believe, is more costly to repair.

Don't get me wrong - I still park far away and/or next to a median in the parking lot (to at least save one side from door dings). I'd bubble wrap my Blue Bullet if that was feasible.

Just a question I was pondering.?
Backing in is better turning radius IMO, Turning wheels in the back. That's why forklifts have the turning wheels in the back.

That's because you can't park straight and have to stay as far away from others as possible. :inspect: Just look at the picture you're clearly over the left side line. ?‍♂

It's easier to back in and pull out

You can see the parking lines clearly with the mirrors and you have full view of everything when you pull out.
