This was on my mind after I made an appointment for getting new KO2’s on Monday. Thinking white in, not out. I may be a bit OCD if the white lettering was out and I do hit dirt roads.
Not OCD at all: white in looks better, and you don't have to clean them so often.

I've happily had both, white letter and black walls out, even on my current truck. To my eye I really think it depends on the trucks color, stance and wheel design. I think mine looks much better now with the new wheel tire combo , the black walls show off the aggressive tread design.

Personally I think trucks look better with the white letter in. As Mike @Fawnbuster said it gives it a more aggressive look. Now if we're talking about older muscle cars then definitely out.

Really depends on the wheels on color of the truck. Also which brand tires make a big difference. I run my KO2’s white out on OEM wheels, because it looks fantastic. Some other brands white letters are just too busy.

I've got the OWL Hankooks that come with the FX4 package, White letters out. The next set of tires will be blackwall. Until then, I can put up with them.
Although, @importfighter01's white/white Jackman wheels looks right with OWL tires.

Black Walls, or do White Letters Matter?

I recall a day, when I wore a younger mans shoes, when the "in thing" was to have white letters out.. I was a pre-teen in the mid 70's. Back when the NFL wasn't lame, cartoons were actually funny, and Dodge rolled out their Black Power Wagon equipped with 8 spoke white rims and BFG tires which sported the raised white letters out. Next thing you know, it was acceptable for not only sports cars, but all the cool kids to fit their trucks with and proudly show off their brand of tire. Although BFG was the premier, Firestone, Goodyear, Michelin, and General, (Among many others) all had their versions. As I recall, that lasted for a strong decade or so before it tapered off, then black walls and even black wheels seemed to be the new look to have.. Now, it appears that just about any combination can be found and the white letters are making a small come back. I kind of missed that look, but maybe the masses are not ready for it? Is it to retro? Maybe too early 80's sports carish? In an age where many have embraced de-branding, white letters may seem too flashy or a bit tacky? - What are your thoughts??
