Where’s your dog?

We also got some dog seatbelts to keep them from bouncing around too much during evasive maneuvers, and to keep them from trying to get into the front seat either while we're driving or they're in there alone. Unfortunately since they're a universal buckle, they don't clip into the middle rear seat clip. So we can only have 2 of 3 buckled at any given time. Works out okay since Charlie, the oldest, is calm and stays pretty much in the same spot in the back anyways. The other 2 are the ones who like to roam.

This is Mac. He's a 6mo old border terrier. I've always had larger dogs before (husky mix and a hound mix). Wife wanted a small dog next, but I wouldn't have any froo-froo thing because I like to do long hikes and camp with my dogs. Wife has a friend who's been breeding borders for something like 30yrs. Also breeds akitas, and the 2018 best of breed akita at Westminster was hers, so we were confident she's a good breeder. He also happens to be our first purebred dog. I love this dog's personality. Independent, but likes people, too. Super food-motivated, so is WAY easier to work with than terriers usually are. Has been great in the woods so far. He hasn't met his first venomous snake or bear yet, so those are going to be interesting.

He's been weird about getting into the backseat of the wife's Subaru, so she thought he'd never jump into the backseat of the truck. Didn't take long for him to figure it out. Sometimes he just doesn't want to jump, so we did some practice today now that I got a dog hammock. This one is a Kurgo. I really like that it can do the halfsies thing, because Mac prefers to jump to the floor of the truck first before getting into the backseat.

GSD is Rocco and the Ridgeback is Jaya (pronounced Jah-Ya). Jaya is my 4th Ridgeback and Rocco is my first GSD, who I rescued. The three of us manage to cram in the back of the bed to sleep. It’s tight, I’m 6’1”, but it works.

GSDs are great dogs, but mine dug up half my yard trying to catch a mole. My brothers Ridgeback could pull one out of the ground in a matter of minutes.
