Nathan's and Hebrew National are 2 of my favs, however my most fav brand is Redondo's Dinner franks.
This brand is native to Hawaii, but I'm sure it can be found in markets along the west coast of the mainland.
One of the lunch dishes I would serve when I was in the firehouse was sliced hot dogs stir fried with cabbage, hau yau (oyster sauce) ,shoyu (soy sauce) and a small package of ebi (dried shrimp), it was excellent when served over a bowl of steamed white rice.

Don't worry when we talk of the 49 states we refer to it as the mainland.
I sometimes refer to the mainland as "Haolewood"...lol

Hi Doc,

Have not had a hotdog in maybe 30 years.... However we regularly have Brats, which I grill....Johnsonville to begin with but when Costco replaced Johnsonville with Kirkland we found them to our liking....

best.
Phil
Hi Phil,

Funny you should bring up Brats. I have a little back story of my own on them. When my wife and I got married, 45 year ago on the 16th by the way, we went out to Washington DC for our honeymoon. Had a wedding bell in the back window and a CD whip on the back bumper. Then, down the blue ridge to the great smokeys. Coming up through Kentucky some guy broke for us on the CB, saw are Wisconsin plates. He said he was on his way up to Wisconsin on business and always planned a trip about this time every year. He had to make a stop in Sheboygan to pick up sausages for his family get together on the 4th. As he put it " You can't find sausages any place in the country like you can in Wisconsin". This was before most of the country even knew what a brat was. I grew up on brats, my German ancestry helped. Yes, Johnsonville are one of my favorites but we also have some local butchers that do a great job also. My favorite way to cook them is slow over indirect charcoal heat in my old Weber Kettle. No, pre-boiling or gas grills for this boy. Hot dogs are OK for a quick meal but, nothing beats a good charcoal grilled brat.

One of my sons will eat no other brand.
I'm just not that picky. As long as they are cooked all the way through I'm good with it.
Currently my wife and I buy the Bar-S brand, but we both grew up on Jesse Jones brand.
I'm like you - most any brand is fine with me. And my wife insists on the Bar S Jumbo, and the only lunchmeat she'll eat is Bar S Bologna. ?

Where do you get these ?
I buy them right up the road at my IGA, but I believe WalMart or Costco carries them Nationally although, like everything else these days, availability might be hit or miss.
