Wheel specs for lift

Sry if somewhere else, but I have not seen it.

I would like to lift my ranger, but all I have seen is recommendations for 20" wheels etc.

I'd would like to stick with a 17" if possible as I would rather have more sidewall then rim.
For example the rc 6" lift lists I believe 20x9?
What wheel specs are people running..backspacing, etc and have no clearance issues with?

Installing a lift is not hard, but I'd like to have wheels that work properly before committing and that's the part I'm not sure on is the wheels.
Have received no response from lift companies either.

More information is needed on how high the lift will be and what size tires you will run. The factory wheels have a +55mm offset. A +25 to +35mm offset for aftermarket wheels tends to work best without creating rub issues. Once you go lower than that, the wheel and tire combo begins sticking too far outboard. Removal or modification of the crash bars and possible fender trimming becomes necessary.

I currently run the RC 6" lift with the N3 struts. Because of the larger knuckle, they limit the wheel backspacing to no more than 6". If you do go that route, just be aware that the factory +55 offset rims will not work unless you run a substantial spacer.

There are calculators online that you can input wheel specs in and it will give you the numbers. Another thing to keep in mind, is that even if you push the rim size/backspace to the limit of 6", if your tires are larger/wider than what RC recommends, you may run into some problems.

If you like the big rim look, the company recommends a 305/55r20 (approx 33") on a 20x9 rim with +12 offset.

For my truck, I currently run 33x12.5s on a 17x8 rim with (0) offset. I also run the high clearance intrusion beams from Ready lift. I have lots of room with no rubbing at all.

This is the kind of info I'm looking for. I've no interest in 20" rims, but 17s at most 18s. 33s are probably ideal realistically. Thank you.
I was considering a 4" RC lift that I thought was offered previously but only see a 6 now and the 3 ish one.
Which means I'll go 6.

To be fair, looking at my current set up, I could easily fit a 34" or possibly even a 35" tire. While shopping for tires, I was really looking at getting a set of 285/75/17s. A little bit more narrow, but an inch taller. If you're looking at a set of rims with a lot of negative offset, I would stick with a 33". Don't forget to post pics if you do go with a 6".

It will be a lot easier if you go check out the Showcase section of the forum. Each page of that section features pictures of 15 vehicles and lists some details including lift and tire size. Clicking on the image takes you to the owner’s showcase, where further details are listed, often including wheel and tire specs. The comments sections sometimes include information regarding what additional trimming, cutting, or modifications were needed to make the setup work for the owner.

285 70r17 17x8.5 +25 offset. Fox lift at out of the box height. Aftermarket crash bars required. Tread is even with the fender and the 8.5 width wheel along with the wider tire gives it a more planted feeling.
