2020 XLT - How do you release the center portion of the Ford OEM wheel covers? Need to remove these to get balancing done.

What models come with wheel covers? As in hub caps.

Are you asking about the center caps? They should just pop out from the back. If the shop your at doesn't know how to remove center caps I'd consider moving on to another shop.
Not the shop, it's me trying to get them off. If I take the wheels off and take to shop they will balance for free. I wanted to take them off myself prior to carting them there.

Can you post a photo of these?

I know my old 2003 Ranger had chrome wheels and it turned out to be a metal overlay glued down onto a stamped and welded steel wheel.

I am not aware of anything like that on the 5th Gen Rangers. I thought the only choices you had were a variety of alloy wheels or an argent silver painted steel wheel.

I'd keep those little ford logos in place. You don't need to remove them for balancing or wheel removal. Lug nuts are accessible. I believe they are just held on by friction and once you remove them the inner tabs that provide the friction will weaken.

Attaching photos, center cap does not have a slot for a screwdriver. It looks like it is part of the cover and not removable. Once carefully removed you can see the nut (3 wings). Removing this nut removes the center cap.

Why does the cap need to be removed?

Have you taken the wheel off? Is that attached to the hub of the axle as the dust cover? I'm thinking it stays attached to the truck, no?

Those center caps do need to be removed to put the wheel on a tire machine for removing or installing new tires. Should not need to be removed for balancing.

Looks to me like that center cap has to come off to get the wheel on the balancer machine.
