I think the mystery nut is a connecting rod cap nut. Don't rev it too high.

David I just looked under mine and couldn't see anything resembling that nut. Hopefully it's just an extra one that fell off during assembly. But what I did find is a pretzel stick, some popcorn and a guacamole chip under there. Guess it's time to vacuum out the Ranger.

Also could be the nut that secures the unilateral phase detractor to the turbo encabulator . I would check ASAP .
