Very sweet, those were the lightest and fastest.1987 mustang notch back 5.0 5spd . Had the no frills package . Aka crank windows no power locks . I wish I still had it ?
Hi Sheepdog,'71 Pinto sedan (the one with the trunk, not the hatch). 1.6 Kent and a 4-speed stick. Cost me $400 in 1981. It ran about 21.05 on the quarter mile, and I made more money at the drag strip with it than it cost me to buy.
Sweet ride Phil, what track is the picture from?Hi Sheepdog,
My 71 Pinto Sedan...SCCA Class B -Sedan ....1.6L Kent 4speed..14:1 CR 8500 rpm redline Side draft Weber DCOEs 4.6 rear gear (special from Sterline Axle) in Ford 8" housing. Was told it would be a pig.....So I made it an awfully fast pig

It was B Sedan. A Sedan was also on the pro side of SCCA as the Trans Am. Weighed 1680 lbs. Class became GT4 but I had already moved on to Formula Supervee....Very cool.
Is that B Production, IT-B, or what?
I was surprised at how well the Pinto handled (for it's day). It was just tremendously underpowered...
Cool. I worked for a rotary Mazda race shop in the '80s. They fielded cars up to GTO if memory serves. That car was tube-framed, with a peripheral port engine. It was B Sedan. A Sedan was also on the pro side of SCCA as the Trans Am. Weighed 1680 lbs. Class became GT4 but I had already moved on to Formula Supervee....

Thanks for sharing I have been a Ford loyalist for most of my life(2 slip ups in the late 80s with 2 Dodges) everything else has been a Ford, Lincoln or Mercury.HI Brian,

Much the same with me . Even the chevy dealers could not make the proper repairs on their vehicles . I would be in shock with the answers they gave me . Switched to Ford in the late 80s .I use to be a pure Chevy guy, and that is all I bought. Chevy started to change in quality and care for their customer at a corporate level. Bit by bit they demonstrated that they no longer had their customers best interest. For example, when they brought out the 3 cylinder for the Colorado, and the community complained, the VP publicly told them to go buy something else.
The final straw came with Chevy's ignition switch that killed 124 people. Thier response was don't use a key chain on your keys.
I admired Ford's handling themselves during the recession. The way they lead the pack with the muscle car resurgence with the Mustang. Where Dodge and Chevy just didn't care anymore.
Since then I have owned 4 Fords. All have been great cars. One of them was an Escape that saved my life from a drunk that ran a red light going over 70 mph in 35 mph road. So, I bought another Escape to drive my family. Now, I got my truck. It only has been a week, but I can't stop smiling.
Long story, sorry. I just very much a Ford guy now.
