I was two hours away from the house yesterday and the check engine light comes on. The Ford Pass App tells me the “exhaust gas cooler is not operating as efficiently as expected”. What the heck is this and why would the owners manual say the solution is to check the coolant reservoir?
The light is still on after checking the coolant, of course. It was a worrisome two hour drive home. Wondering if I am doing major damage to the truck.
Anyone else have this issue?

Hat that happen on a Cummins IsX. The coolant level started dropping about half a gallon in 4-5 days (not that much in a 12 gallon system) and the CE light came on with a code and msg "EGR valve out of calibration." The EGR valve cooler had started leaking internally, taking out the sensor. Some I learned would leak bad enough to produce white steamy exhaust, like what happens with a blown head gasket.

Let us know how this turns out, Joel.

Thanks for the help. I will be taking it down to the dealership tomorrow to let them look at it. I am hoping it is something relatively quick they can fix. Who knows with things getting harder to come by these days.
I will update when I know something more.

"What is the exhaust gas cooler?" A device that probably will cause some degree of heartburn over time, yrs back when egr valves were employed they were often simplistic devices, actuated by engine vacuum tied to throttle position. They were problematic then but it was mostly from the valve accumulating exhaust crud. Now fast forward and you have a complex egr system - replete with circulating engine coolant, 2 sensors, an egr valve itself and numerous hoses. But we are saving the planet. Im pretty certain an EV doesn't need an egr system, just a battery and an electric motor.

Happen to stop by what use to be Lake Meade during your adventures?
No we didn't stop but we drove by it on our way back home yesterday. It was hard to tell (looks kind of low though) in that area how low it was going 80 mph, eating a sandwich and driving with my knees.?

Contacted the dealer today. They can not even look at it until next week. I tell ya, all this garbage of shortages and stuff makes me just want to move off the grid, use horses and cattle. Go old school, like really old school and forget all this mess.
