@Rtball - this is true, though, depending on where you live you can be harassed to death over this by law enforcement. Where I live the police officially have "better things to do," their words, not mine. Even though it's the law, it's not enforced.

I have acquaintances that live in different regions with completely different stories, however. In certain areas it's the police's favorite hobby - catching missing front plates.

Starting this past July we no longer need a front plate in Idaho unless vehicle is made to have it. Need to find some color match bumper plugs.

Wow that’s as clear as mud. Is there wording that states what constitutes “ made to have it” ? Here in Michigan it’s no front plate because “we don’t need no stinking front plate”

To clarify, " one (1) in the front, if the vehicle is equipped with a front license plate mounting bracket". I don't need no stinking bracket.

Yeah, and I went and bought the front plate bracket when I got my Ranger two years ago! I didn't know the law was changed recently. Sort of tough to decide which rigs came with it or not. Mine is a Canadian import as well as the wife's 2015 Explorer. Our mechanic shop is also a dealer so he goes to the dealer auction out of Spokane to get vehicles for people. So ours are both from Canada and didn't have plate brackets. They do know now! Cool thing on the Rangers, though is it a no-drill install. So taking it off won't leave any holes.

I agree with you, however in Texas it is required by law that we have to have a front license plate on the vehicle. So I just live with it.

Well not today but a couple of nights ago. Was at our 4x4 club meeting and they had the RTI ramp there. I knew in advance that it would be there so I wanted to know my score with my sway bar disconnected. Last year on the same 25 degree ramp it scored at 322.8 ( 41 “ ramp distance) . This was in four low and locker engaged. So with all things being the same as last year except with the sway bar disconnected it scored at 382.0 ( 48.5” ramp distance). So it picked up 7.5” more travel on the ramp. I know that it’s common knowledge that you pick up travel with it disconnected. But I wanted to see the measurable change.

That depends on where in Canada. Here in Ontario, front plates are required, as is the case with British Columbia and Manitoba. All other provinces don't require them; for New Brunswick, that's as recent as July 2019. Given that you're in Idaho, best guess is that your cars came from Alberta, or possibly Saskatchewan, although the Territories and further east from Quebec or the Maritimes remain distinct possibilities.

I've been to Alberta, but never driven there, so I don't know too much about their driving habits. Odds are, though, that your rigs got to experience a lot of different terrain, from the Rockies to the low country. @DukeCanBuildit would likely be able to give you a better assessment of their driving prowess.

Makes sense. There's several rock chips on both rigs. Nothing touch up paint wouldn't take care of but of course I haven't got around to it. I'm assuming a fair amount of gravel roads. The 2015 Explorer is the Sport model so not an off roader buy any means. My Ranger is an FX4 but the previous owner had a lot of protective film put on it and the rockers are color matched bed liner unless Ford did that from the factory. The truck is in awesome shape.

I am cheating but the other day I finally got to see Lake Mead again, sad condition with the water level where it is. We used to go a few times in the summer before the pandemic....First that ruined it by people over using it and leaving trash, then once that calmed down the water level got so low it was clay/mud along the shore, not as fun to hang out like it used to be.

In the photo with the lights out, the truck would be under water. Where the lights are on, I think that is about where we would tail gate backed into the water.

I was going to remove mine after I realized officers in Nevada don't care like they do in CA, until my bumper paint was worn into the primer. Put it back on and figured I would deal with it another day.

Lived in Boulder City for a short period - visited the beach area some and although I literally lived so close to the Dam, I never took the tour.
Curious what the shoreline looks like now.
Loved BC - and visited the (Railroad Pass) quite a bit, I wonder if gambling is still illegal inside the city limits?
Hence the reason for Railroad Pass (Location) being inches from city limits
