PAYING OFF THE MORTGAGE ! ! !
:like::clap::rockon::party::handsinair:
This 100% !!:like:

I paid mine off years ago with my FA telling me it wasn't a good thing to do and should invest it. Gee, I wonder why HE wanted my money. :rolleyes: Needless to say it was the best decision I made along with firing him and got another FA. lol

There's two ways to skin a cat and having the freedom of no mortgage gave me more peace of mind, especially being self employed. Then I was able to invest heavily with the same (or more) money that I was spending on my mortgage. This helped during those down years (2008) when you can now make the choice to skip investing (I wouldn't recommend it but it's a nice choice to have) for a period but you can't skip paying your bills.

Fuck you and Dave Ramsey for making me feel guilty (JK) :LOL:. If I put extra in to my monthly mortgage payment, I wouldn't have any money left over for truck parts (or gas, or food, or electricity, etc.)

In 2008 when the economy was bad, Ford decided to move production of the Expedition from MAP to KTP. In order to save cost they decided to use plant forces for the installation. They told us that seven 12 hour days a week would be available to us maintenance people. Wow, unlimited overtime in a bad economy. Count me in. Seven twelves for 6 months straight with a few 16 hour days thrown in. Only took 2 days off, Christmas day and Thanksgiving day. I used the money to pay off my house. Like @AzScorpion, against FA advice. It is so awesome to feel the security of no mortgage. Also helped facilitate my retirement. I am an electrician, not a Financial Advisor but I would to that again 100 percent.

Owwwww! I hope you didn’t get too badly hurt and that you weren’t carrying boxes at the time. And why does that always slam you to the deck at 10x gravity?

Of course, as law of nature dictates yes I had a box in my arms.

No serious injury other than a grape fruit sized welt on my right shin/ankle. Being 35, slamming down onto the deck isn't the same when I was 20...

Try it at 60 - on a mountain bike - at speed - just as you enter a curve on a slippery elevated boardwalk over a marsh - it was like human curling. ? ?

I may or may not have cursed a lot.

I'm sure even at 60 I'll be slipping or otherwise f'ing my stuff up.

To make it even better, my garage is off center and tucked behind the house so I need to make a sharp turn to snake in.

But you CAN get it all in and shut the door.
That's a good thing.

Yeah I'm grateful for having a garage like the previous house had.

We now live right at an intersection on a busy street so backing into my driveway is gonna be a rarity... That's one thing I'll miss doing.
