My 2021 Ranger finally hit 5000 miles so I went to rotate the tires and saw that the front passenger tire is a 265/65R17 112T while the other three tires are LT265/65R17 109T. Looking them up, the mismatched tire is a cheaper tire and weighs like 10 lbs less. I am going to contact the dealer and see what they say, but is it safe to drive this way?

It's safe. What brand and model are they? What year and package do you have? I'm curious as to whether factory goofed or if dealer made the switch

If you haven't noticed any odd driving behaviors I would think it's fine. I personally wouldn't tow or haul because at the limit the tires could react differently. But normal around town drives should be fine.

That’s so weird. Maybe our good sponsor @Discount Tire might have some insight on the safety aspect of this.

Hankook Dynapro, was a $275 upgrade on the sticker. Truck was bought new and is one year old.

An LT-rated is different and may require different recommended air pressure. Whatever is on the door sticker is your correct tire. I would go to the dealer and politely demand that they put on whatever tire is on the door sticker and all four should match.

That's the plan, unfortunately the dealer is 45 miles away.

Call the dealer and see what they may attempt to do. As to no suprise they might not belive you and say to schedule an appointment in 4 weeks. Worst case scenario you.may want to buy some different tires. Best case scenario Ford makes it right

Someone here with those from the factory should be able to weigh in. If I had to guess, dealer scavenged one of yours to fix another vehicle and then replaced it wwithout realizing the factory tires were LTs. Just my speculation.

go to any dealer.
this is an issue in my opinion

Agreed, it needs to be made right. While not a safety issue for day to day driving, it will potentially impact wear and load carrying ability, not to mention it's just right that OP gets what was supposed to be on the truck.

Good idea, there is a local dealer and maybe they can make it right. This just seems like a really stupid problem to have.
Have you checked the spare to be sure it was not mounted there?

Not all Rangers run a matching spare so there is a fat chance it will be what he needs there
Got it. Was just a thought prio to calling the dealer. And I would normally want to include the space in a tire rotation (if it was a match, that is).
