Well…both of ya’ll look fit and healthy. I know 30 year olds that look older. Ya’ll keep doing what you’re doing. And I will say a special shout out to Annie for being such a good sport. Any woman that pushes through despite that knee pain, and travels those harrowing trails (despite her fear at times), is one to be admired. :)
? Thank you we really appreciate you and everyone else who followed us and were concerned. She really is a good sport and as much pain as she was in I don't know how she pushed through it all seeing this happened on day 3. She's use to living in fear being with me all these years as she never knows where I'll be taking her next. lol But as she says "it's always an adventure and fun time".?

This was right after she fell and took the bandage off that first night.

After walking and hiking for 27 more days the swelling has finally come down and it looks much better today. Thankfully it wasn't worse.

That looked terrible! So glad it’s much improved. She really is tough! :)
It’s a wonderful thing when you have someone to share those awesome experiences with.❤

She gets props from me. Three months out from my MCL and meniscus tear and I'm still not free of pain. PT is starting to show results but knee pain is brutal.

I hope you feel better soon Steve as living in pain is not fun to do. Of course as we age it takes a lot longer too. Her's is still pretty numb and there's still some pain when she moves it in a certain direction but getting better now that's she's off it more.

Tracy said it well, Annie is a real trooper. Thanks again for bringing us along on your trip, I for one, appreciate the pictures and dialog you provided. Thanks also for the picture, nice looking couple.

I was wondering about your knee. Sorry you’ve had such a time with it, but glad you’re seeing some improvement.:)

Thank you Kent and we're both happy you and everyone enjoyed this as much as we did. It really did make it a very special trip with all of you, almost like you were all there with us. ?

I'll update the first post so anyone interested doesn't have to look through 896 posts. lol

Just in case anyone is traveling to any of these places, here’s a list of the places we stayed and a short review of them. Just about every one of them worked out well and there’s only one we didn’t care for. Hopefully this helps anyone who's traveling through these areas.

Durango, CO

This time we stayed at the Econolodge and back in 2020 we stayed at the Best Western. The Best Western is newer and a little nicer but it was almost $300.00 more. The Econolodge was more centrally located so you can walk to most restaurants, very quiet and clean, bed was comfortable but it is an older hotel which they’re in the process of updating. The owner was great and was very helpful when Annie fell in getting me a few large freezer bags for ice and offering other stuff to help her out. It's only a 5 minute drive to the main downtown area where the Durango-Silverton train is. We stayed here 5 nights.

Salida, CO

We stayed at the Woodland Motel and it was a nice place. It's been recently remodeled and updated and it was a very quiet area. The bed was just ok and this was the only place we stayed that my back hurt the next morning. We stayed here 1 night.

Torrington, WY

We stayed at the Cobblestone Hotel & Suites. It’s a really nice hotel and very clean and really comfortable bed. We stayed here 1 night on our way to Custer, SD.

Custer SD

We stayed at the Best Western Buffalo Ridge. This was a great place to stay and the manager Stephane was super nice and gave us a ton of info on the area. Very clean, beds were very comfortable and really quiet at night. It's very close to all the attractions and has a nice downtown area with all mom & pop type shops and restaurants. What we really loved is it hasn't been commercialized so there's no Walgreens or McDonalds. We stayed here 6 nights.

Next was Marks @txquilguys house. We felt like we were at home here as Mark and Kathy opened their house up to us like it was out own! Comfortable is an understatement and I wish we could’ve stayed longer than 1 night and hope to meet up again soon!

Central City, CO

We stayed at the Century Casino & Hotel. This room was huge and the largest one of them all. They only have 24 rooms there so it’s super nice and quiet. The only downside is you have to park in the garage and go inside to get a cart (we has so much stuff) and bring it up to the 4th floor. Then the cart needs to be returned down to the 2nd floor so it's kind of a pain if you have a lot of stuff. 1 night stay here.

Parachute, CO

We stayed at the Candlewood Suites. I wish we were here longer than just 1 night as every room has a full kitchen with all the utensils you need. Free laundry and workout room and very clean and comfortable bed.

Rangely, CO

We rented a cabin at Moosehead Lodge. The reviews were really good but we didn’t care for it and wouldn’t recommend staying here. The room was small which we kind of figured from the pics but the bathroom is like a coffin and very small and we’re not big people. Also the room smelled musty and we were glad we only stayed here for 1 night.

Moab, UT

We stayed at the Virginian Inn and it was a nice older hotel. Room was clean and very comfortable bed and quiet area. What’s nice is it’s on a small side road just off the main st so you’re close to everything and can walk to all the restaurants and shops. The manager was really nice and when I asked for a 1st floor room because of Annies knee she gave us the handicap room which was a lot bigger (huge bathroom) than the normal rooms for no up-charge. We stayed here for 4 nights.

Hurricane, UT

We stayed at the Hurricane Hideaway Lodging, this was our favorite place of all. They all newer (built within the last 3 years) and are side by side rooms with only 5 buildings on the property. It’s run like an Air B&B where you get a room code, there’s no office on site but the owner lives close by and is super nice! We stayed in room #6 which has a king size bed (most comfortable of all) big tv, small kitchenette and a decent size bath with a walk in shower. There’s a covered front porch with a table and chairs which was great for eating breakfast and hanging out at night talking with the neighbors. It’s really quiet here and close to everything, Zion & St George are only 20 minutes away.

A week has gone by and now that we're back home and back to work we both hate it. lol All of you here have be so gracious to let us share this journey with all of you. This forum gave us the ability to plan our trip and see some really great sights along the way that I had no idea where out there. I'll admit there were several times when I was taking a picture I was thinking of how much you all would enjoy it because we were. Annie's injury on our 3rd day was a pretty big scare. All the warm posts really helped (and helped her) and it would have been real easy to just go home but she pushed though it, looking back I don't know how she did it.

We had such a good time together and with all of you we will remember this trip forever! So I’ve been hesitant to do this but seeing as you all have been through this whole experience with us I feel like it’s necessary now that we're family. lol Plus, Duke went the extra mile getting my house cleaned up after all the ASU gang trashed it. ?

I know Duke @DukeCanBuildit, Rick @Trigganometry, Kent @Radioman, Bob @Bob902 ,Tracy @Tracy Bowman, Steve @IdahoRanger, Al @Texasota, Greg @GregM, Chris @Chris M and especially Brandon @dondonbabyraptor, who I tortured in his Beautiful Faces thread last year and everyone else have been waiting for this so what the heck. Here we are on Annies birthday, the first day we rolled into South Dakota at Mt Rushmore.
Uhhhhh..... when did they reverse Mt Rushmore ??? :giggle:
