I’m sure you’ll enjoy it Mark.

Anyone else see the irony in those side steps like I do? ?
Those are there so you can swab the whole roof from either side...

However their conventional autos are good and their diesel engines brilliant, and only the the 2.4's made in the US are crap the ones made in Korea are solid.

Well their conventional autos are good their diesel engines are brilliant it's mostly the 2.4s from the US plant that play up Korean plant ones seem fine albeit noisy and most twin clutch gearboxes seem tobe trouble prone regardless of the maker like that other abomination the CVT so good luck with it we've iwned several Hyundai / kia products and all have been good cars.
The Theta II engines (2.0T and 2.4) were/are defective irrespective of build location, article below cites recalls in S. Korea - this was early on in the recall process, in the USA Hyundai/KIA were fined $210M for concealing a safety defect - Theta engine seizures from crankshaft bearings . In the USA and Canada owners such as I have a court mandated lifetime engine replacement, the engines are still failing and in 2022 alone the maker reserved $2 billion for replacement cost - ontop of several billion in previous yrs, estimates are when all said and done cost could be over $4 billion Theta II replacements. Of course Hyundai/KIA denied engines were defective and were denying warranty replacements until a Hyundai engineer bought a plane ticket and revealed the defect to the US Congress and was awarded $24m - see link below. Yes Hyundai now makes some decent vehicles and has come a long way from some of the junk they 1st brought to the US market but their track record is one of numerous fines to things like knowingly misstating mpg nos, engine performance numbers and of course engine failures. I own a 2013 Hyundai Sante Fe with a 2.0T Theta engine and it's been reliable but starting to use increasing amount of oil - another known attribute of Theta II engines. but a least their engines don't routinely blow up like the ones they were know for in the 80s, I have told the story of my ski buddy getting a V6 Sonata and trying to keep up my Saab going up a mountain road and suddenly in my rear view mirror I see smoke billowing from the Sonata as it coasted to the shoulder with blown engine. No more Hyundais for me . Also Hyundai has widely and repeatedly been accused of corrupt biz practices in S. Korea. No more Hyundai for me.

Well thank you for the additional info however over here Ford were fined 40 million dollars for ignoring the design defects in their twin clutch transmission trying to blame constant failures on their customers and Toyota were threatened with something similar after not wanting to fix the issues with their faulty DPF implementation on the Hilux diesel Sadly it seems that no business these days wants to own up.

I don't want to waste time delving into it further but Hyundai's execs have been convicted of crimes involving corruption in the past.

I'm admittedly negatively predisposed as when I bought the 2013 Sante Fe over other choices it was because of the 2.0T turbo (drove turbo Saabs since 80s) and efficiency as it was rated at 27mpg highway . The next week after purchase another Hyundai scandal broke where they were forced to admit to knowingly falsifying mpg tests for numerous models, for this they were fined $100 million, I get compensation for this for as long as I own the vehicle, based on the restated lower mpg rating. I appealed to the authorities to allow me to return the vehicle but was denied. When I say the were forced to admit it's because Hyundai claimed it was just an oversight, until the DOJ subpeonaed the testers who admitted they were acting on Hyundai's instructions to skip a portion of the mpg tests. and in the US Hyundai also had to recall their early DCT trannies after losing a class action suit .

." Mar 29, 2023 — Hyundai settled the lawsuit for $41.2 million and agreed to provide a warranty extension and reimbursement for transmission repairs. "

Sadly it seems that no business these days wants to own up.
Standard business practice these days seems to be "Deny, Defend, Delay"; Deny that there's an issue, Defend it in court if it goes that far, Delay actually complying with court orders as long as possible if the findings aren't in your favor. Basically, try to get every single problem to die a quiet little death by dragging it out until there's no one left who remembers what happened.

Ontario got rid of the renewal fee & stickers a couple of years ago, although we still have to "renew" our plates online. I'm not sure how many people actually remember to do that though; it took me about 4 months after mine had "expired" until I actually remembered to do it when in front of a computer, and not getting in the truck to drive somewhere, forgetting about it again in the meantime.
Also, we get to blame our crappy roads on winter conditions, which ironically even out the roads during winter before destroying them during the protracted battle between winter and summer that we cynically call spring. Why yes, you CAN get frostbite & heat stroke in the same day!
You would think if you didn’t have fees you could just set it to auto renew, all though I’m sure them offering that would make it to easy  Also I was just looking, you guys have quite the barrel of options for plate decals. I might have to re register my car from Michigan to Ontario. Unless I can get the new water winter wonderland blue plate.

Avoid the boarder hassle, register at the Wisconsin DMV; We've got 58 special plate designs!

You'd think, but that would require bureaucrats to think beyond their 3-foot world.
