Trust me, I am well aware of the registration cost...... At least I'm just outside the emissions line here in Elbert County!!
I still have to DEQ (Department of Environmental Quality) for my 1999 taco but my Ranger no DEQ which is awesome. Oregon cost was If I remember correctly $167 + $25 for DEQ. Now just the $167 on the Ranger. These are two year tags. but I have three vehicles so it can add up. Ranger, Taco and Yamaha Oh plus my Tent Trailer. :whew: That's 4 vehicles for tags. darn GOOBERMENT!

Me: Laughs in Louisiana $65 every 4-year registration and $20 two-year inspection.
Also me: Crys when I drive on our crappy roads.

Oh.. don't worry... our roads are probably worse than yours lol.

Funny....the 2 things I miss from the Kona are the Premium Audio (It had a 315 watt, Infinity system that sounded perfect) and the Heads Up Display on the dash (Made it easy to check speed and see your proximity warnings better).

I do love the ride on the Santa Cruz.....dtech mentioned Hyundai's suspensions, but at least when new it feels very nice. We'll see how long that lasts. The Kona was a little sporty SUV....this vehicle is more of a highway cruiser with the 20" Wheels and Michelin Primacy LTX tires....

I will definitely need to install an aftermarket amp and speakers in this thing......terrible sound!
Hey I'm sure you'll enjoy the Hyundai, the c&d specs are impressive in terms of power and handling, what I meant with respect to suspension is mostly anecdotal from several older ones, things like sway bar links and control arms worn . The stereo in wife's Sante fe is a 12 speaker infinity supposedly premium but compares poorly with the b&o in the Ranger. Also your Hyundai I'm sure has an engine cover standard, something ford decided isn't needed

They honor the warranty on those transmissions because they are soooo bad and everyone knows it.
What else could they do?
Glass houses and throwing stones.

//break - back to OP.

Nice pick up! If I was gonna get one it would be in the black trim. Turbo without the luxo crap to push it over 40k. The one I looked had at was 36k.

That headlight setup they run now sorta gets me. The DRL in the grill is neat. That and the weird things over the wheel arches that a dealer told me was for go pros????

Still have them emailing me to buy one to this day. The owner of a dealership called me today actually to see if his people dropped the ball on the deal.

No... APRs did.... I'll stick with what I have for now. That and I got my Ranger for 28k vs the 32/33ish k sticker. I'm good for now

Ontario got rid of the renewal fee & stickers a couple of years ago, although we still have to "renew" our plates online. I'm not sure how many people actually remember to do that though; it took me about 4 months after mine had "expired" until I actually remembered to do it when in front of a computer, and not getting in the truck to drive somewhere, forgetting about it again in the meantime.
Also, we get to blame our crappy roads on winter conditions, which ironically even out the roads during winter before destroying them during the protracted battle between winter and summer that we cynically call spring. Why yes, you CAN get frostbite & heat stroke in the same day!
Wish NC was that lenient. Our yearly renewal regs are tied in with property taxes, insurance, and safety/emissions tests and all must be oaid before paying for renewal

Had an '87 Hyundai Excel. It was 7 or 8 years old when I bought it. The 75 year old Chevy I just bought drives better than it did.

Never again. Koreans make good electronics, not so good cars.

Also, those headlights are hideous.

Somewhat depends on what tranny was in it, their dct are crap, their Theta II engines were horrible, Hyundai does keep improving though and understands their targeted buyer very well.
However their conventional autos are good and their diesel engines brilliant, and only the the 2.4's made in the US are crap the ones made in Korea are solid.

Well their conventional autos are good their diesel engines are brilliant it's mostly the 2.4s from the US plant that play up Korean plant ones seem fine albeit noisy and most twin clutch gearboxes seem tobe trouble prone regardless of the maker like that other abomination the CVT so good luck with it we've iwned several Hyundai / kia products and all have been good cars.

We wanted a Maverick and got one. 22 hybrid lariat and waited a year and 2 weeks. There’s a Santa Cruz in the neighborhood and we would have gone another direction if not the Maverick. My wife is the main driver weekday but I drive weekends. Great to drive but prefer the Ranger.

Enjoy

Yes it’s bad in NC but I hate our taxes less anytime I take 85 into South Carolina. The interstate is so bad there.

you planning on sharing the storage pron(pictures for the old folks) with us?

Kai and Hyundai are 2 of the MANY reasons why I'll never go Japanese cars again
I believe they are South Korean companies

Sticker on the Night edition I bought was $38.2K....I got them down to $37.2K. They gave me an extra $1K for my Kona in the end than they originally offered.

Overall I was pretty good with the deal.....
If you’re happy with the deal that’s all that matters. I think a Gen 2 Maverick will replace my MY22 Ranger.
