Since new my Ranger will on occasion start vibrating the speedometer needle when you open the door. I pointed it to the service rep when I took the truck in for it's first service. He suggested letting it go awhile to see what happens. That was two years ago. It still is doing it. In fact once while sitting in the truck with everything shut off it started doing it. I only have 9k miles on the truck, so my warranty will run out next November. When I had the Ranger in for the seat belt recall I brought up the problem with the vibrating speedo needle. He said it was a common quirk with Rangers, and his 150 did the same thing.
My question is, do other Ranger folks on this forum have that problem with the speedometer needle?

I've never had this happen. I've also had 8 F150's prior to my Ranger and none of them ever did this. I'd suggest you try another dealership, yours seems to be to lazy to look at it.

I’ve never had that happen and don’t recall anyone posting about it. I wouldn’t consider it “common” - even if it is, Ford would want it fixed almost as much as you do.

Honestly, it’s hard to believe some dealers are just too lazy to call Ford and seek help or provide feedback - aren’t TSBs good for everybody?

My needle bounces when the cruise control is on between 67 and 72. Don't do it all the time but it shouldnt do it all.

It sounds electrical. Either bad ground or bad battery?

The truck is just restless, doesn't like being parked!

Seriously, it might be something in the body control module or whatever controls power to the instrument cluster. My company Kenworth's tach would do that occasionally. It didn't affect the reading or anything else, so nothing was ever done about it. Went 750,000+ miles with it before I retired and AFIK it's still doing it.

I decided the next time I took the truck to the dealer I was going to insist they fix the speedo needle. The truck stopped doing it around 2 months ago. My warranty runs out in November. Hopefully, if it comes back it will be before then.

Would it put you at ease a little if I told you my F150 does it occasionally?

Fords do weird crap.

Electronics do weird crap. Guessing grounding or one of the control modules as guessed previously. Wouldn't happen on a mechanical speedometer cable while sitting still but would be normal while driving. 60 or 65, IDK but close enough.
