My Ranger is the first Ford I have owned. I have driven a few 6.2 raptor and in my opinion in not impressed. I think think Ford over exaggerated the 6.2 way too much.

Well, the Roush was 600hp... launch it in 4H and you'll be impressed.

The 6.2L was built to be a bulletproof workhorse, not a fire breather.

I wonder if running it without the K&N reduces performance much. I am not a fan of those things.

i ran one in a 5.0 Mustang in S Florida and there were equal amounts of sand on both sides of the filter. And yes I know how to oil one. Never used one after that experience.

I'm with you on this. If anything I might get an AEM in place of it. When I was in Arizona I have seen plenty of trucks need new engines because the K&N filter let so much dirt and dust right by it

You'll be fine on the stock filter. They're just aware that a lot of customers don't like paying $800 for something they can't touch, or paying for something the truck can do from the factory with a few different 1's & 0's in the software.

I have built a few track appliances in my day and have not and will not use K&N filters.
I have always used a stock filter with different ways of getting more air to filter like cold air ram or even just adding holes to the filter cover on a 911 I built.

I dont think so. If you go to https://parts.levittownfordparts.co...nger-ecoboost-power-pack-calibration-m9603reb you can get it at a nice low price. It's lower cost compared to my price at my work so i did that.

For folks ordering from online from Levitown or other, what's the deal with the warranty? I see mention on Ford Performance this must be installed by ASE certified shop or Ford dealer for warranty to apply.

Are you install yourself, taking it to a Ford Dealer or other shop? I assume Ford Dealer is going to charge to install. I dislike my Ford Dealer a lot, need to find a new one, but that sounds like a hassle.

If I'm understanding correctly Ford wants you to have it installed by a trained technician because there are plenty of people out there that don't know what they're doing and might allow the battery to be drained while doing the tune or cycle the key when you're not supposed to and F up the PCM.

Make sense. So you're thinking if someone screws it up during install it's on them, however if they are not an idiot(or just unlucky), and successfully flash \ install they are likely to honor warranty?

I'm going to buy the Ford Tune, seems like the best mix for me. I would much rather order online, and install myself. If I must have dealer or certified shop install, I suppose the conversation is likely easier to buy and install at the same place than try to have them install something I bought else where.

Flashing something is pretty straight forward. Unless you've got some minimum version flash, or something the dealer do to verify ahead of install.

Yep, bricked modules are a royal PITA.

I've moved on to a new... but... ahem... related employer, but it was a good gig.

yep, I loved my raptor and I was afraid that the Ranger might not travel as well with a trailer and two motorcycles on the trailer. Still have not towed the trailer with the Ranger but I have a feeling that after the tune, the Ranger will do great. I still think I'm going to miss the overall ride of the Raptor, it was like traveling in a Cadillac when towing the bikes on a long trip.

I read through the instructions for it in everything looks pretty straightforward. Also the ranger is pretty new so there shouldn't be any extra tuning or anything like that that has to be done with the PCM before this tune gets installed that I'm aware of. The biggest thing I liked about is the fact that it has tools from the factory scan tool that other tuners and most scan tools will not have.

I have the Ford Performance pack ordered and will be using the factory air filter. I’ll sell the k&n filter.

Don’t you guys think you are slightly overreacting to an aftermarket air filter. Knock on wood but I’ve never had an issue with “bigger” partials entering. Have a 03 explorer with a k&n intake. Clocked 200k with no issues. I have pretty much had aftermarket filters on all my cars. And I keep them for awhile. Just saying....
