Ughhhh! Transmission Puked Fluid AGAIN!

I guess the overflow tank might be a benefit only if you are somehow running a correctly filled trans so hot it's expelling fluid like extreme towing, although a bigger fluid pan could offset that. Or for off-road where the stock vent might get submerged in water. Either way having the correct fluid level seems a priority... so the MBS transmission stick would be essential. And Lubeguard Platinum just because.

If it's that hot you're destroying your transmission! Better to spend the $$ for a fluid temp gauge to keep it within the safe zone.

You may have a point about submerged, but by then the water is running across your toes!

Just a heads up, I DID NOT drive the truck to the airport to pick my wife up yesterday. We had some pretty lousy weather forecasted, and I didn't want to be stranded on the FL turnpike with my wife in those conditions. And the skies really opened up ugly.

So, the next thing I will do is shimmy under the truck, burn my hands/arms, and check the trans level.

I might look into getting one of these.

I don't drive the truck that often, so it's been awhile since the dealership has serviced it and potentially overfilled it, so i can't lay it on them because they'll say, "It's been three years!"

So it's probably time I get on taking care of it myself.

If you are going to put in a real dipstick, the MBS Dipstick ("FitzStick") is the only real option, IMO. I think you will get frustrated with the B&M one since it doesn't have level markings on it.

ODB2 Dongle and a spare phone is what I used to use.

And the Torque App.

This was my setup when we were traveling.

Of course, some of the gauges are 'just because' but the trans temp is big and easy to see.

I was running the torque app in my Mustang on an old, huge tablet for awhile. It saved my bacon once. I had disconnected the battery and wiped out the computer emissions data, and it needed to relearn before I could get the car through yearly emissions inspection. While about to go out on a drive, I was sitting in my car looking at my cell phone in the driveway and the car was idling. I looked over at the tablet and saw the temp gauge, larger than life, start to peg out.

Ughhh. I had a boil over, but only initially noticed because that Torque app!
