I went to hook up the rear camera for my new dash cam in the back window of my truck, and I discovered that the rear defroster connection for the wire had failed at some point. It looks like solder joints and that they just fell off! I'll try to remember to snag some photos.

I've been without a rear defrost this year in Northern Ohio, I'm sure you'll survive without one in Florida.
The grid is not very well attached to the window. I tried fixing it once already and when I went to connect the wire, another piece of the grid came off the window along with the terminal. It hasn't been warm enough to try again.
Besides, what's behind me isn't important. ;)

Mine came off on the driver side.

No idea how it happened.

I used this and it seems to have fixed it, so far anyway (~9 months or so)

I am so glad I don't have to deal with frostiness down here! But on occasion, it does get steamy in my truck. HAHAHAHAHA

THis is (potentially) awesome!
That's what I used. You need to make sure the part of the grid you stick the terminal to is well attached. Otherwise, when you try to connect the wire, it will pull off again. I initially had the wire connected to the terminal and the tension from the wire pulled it off when I let go of the base. My next attempt when we have a streak of 60* plus days is to stick the terminal to the glass next to the grid and use the conductive paint to connect it to the grid.
Mine initially broke when I snagged it cleaning the window. Appears the grid isn't very well attached to the glass IMO.

On mine the grid was fine, the tab had just popped off.

I think some rowdy kids pulled it off wrestling back there.

Cleaned everything well and followed the directions and all seems fine.

Though honestly, I may have used the rear defroster 4 times in 4 years.

My OCD just couldn't stand the loose terminal back there, taunting me every time I opened the driver side rear door.

When I got my truck tinted I opted to leave the rear window alone because (in part) of potential and likely issues of this sort.

What is pictured will hold the tab to the window. If you stick the tab to the copper, it may peel off as I found out when attaching the wire. Attach the tab to the glass and use some conductive paint to connect the copper to the tab. There is a kit that contains the tab epoxy and grid repair.
Still waiting for warm enough weather to fix mine but the few times it's been frosted this winter, it cleared quick enough with just the heat in the cab.
You can test to see if the copper colored material is still conductive with an ohmmeter. Put a probe on the one end of the grid and the other on the opposite side. Reading should be around zero.

Had some misty dew on the rear window this morning so hit the rear defrost. Soon noticed only the lower half of the window was clearing up. Then I noticed this. Is this repairable with that kit?

Had the exact same thing happen to mine. Luckily, I was still within my 3yr-36mile warranty, and my ford dealer replaced my rear window.

I wonder if conductive tape with conductive adhesive would work. I would just worry about a good connection to the remaining elements.
