Rear sliding defroster

Noticed this morning that my rear defroster for the sliding center pane of glass doesn’t seem to be working. The panels to the left and right work fine - but the center - nada. It feels cold to the touch (vs warm for the other panels). Everything looks to be be plugged in. Thoughts on what could cause this / what the repair might be?

I’m still under warranty but hoping it might be something easy so I can avoid what has turned into very long waits at my local dealer.

I haven't inspected it on mine yet, but I expect there are contact points that line up with one side of the fixed glass when the slider is closed, just look at it and see if everything lines up properly and it making contact. It's done wirelessly then not sure, but I expect it is not wireless.

It appears to have its own power connector. In the lower left I’d the glass there is a Rubber housing that connects to a wire that sits in the track the pane used to slide open / closed. Best I can tell - the wire is connected.

Ah ha, yep. Took a stroll out to the garage and looked. I guess you could figure out how to disassemble the frame, but I'd just take it to the dealer.

Any update? I finally got the chance to use my defroster this morning and I think I’m having the same issue.. have an appt booked for next week

Check for missing spraylat copper conductive coating.

The traces I can see on the center panel all look perfect.

The edges are covered with trim, as is the cable connecting the sliding part.

To follow up, dealer said the grid was bad. The traces aren't damaged nor are the tabs. Such a failure they say is quite unusual.

It is not repairable, the whole rear window needs to be replaced. ~$1500 part+labor. I'm 3 months out of 3/36 but it is covered under my Ford extended warranty. They ordered the part, it is not on backorder.
