The guy who had the red Jeep wasn't driving it at the time. He got out of it above and he set the e-brake and it was on loose gravel and rolled backwards. Sadly his girlfriend (or friend) was still in there when this happened and was in serious condition. I have the article saved and will edit once I find it. Just like this guy with his Bronco it was a stupid mistake but this one unfortunately almost cost someone their life.

Found it:

Yep.

Like I said. Some people should learn their limits.

Oftentimes stupid mistakes just cost you money. But sometimes they can cost a life.

Before attempting Black Bear pass all braking functions should be thoroughly checked.

I wouldn't trust a Jeep parking brake. They are not known to be reliable.

Like the old ford twin I beam? I have an 86 F-150 with that setup.
That's exactly what I meant. My 81 Bronco had it and I always think it was just brilliant as a front suspension, even though I know Ford only designed it that way so they could use the same chassis for 2 and 4WD F100 and 150's.

Set the E-brake

Sorry, says it all, I just don't trust those things. Sadly the new Ranger next year is going to be fitted with one of those electronic abominations.

I'm not sure the person who wrote that had any concept of cringy Youtube stars. That might be more relevant in the context of someone accusing another of sinning? ?

It’s a pretty solid design. My only concern is camber issues and getting those damn king pins out. Lol

Yes the camber used to change as the suspension moved, it couldn't be helped it was just a "feature" of the design. Ah yes, the jinormous ball joint king pins. I gave up and took mine to a truck suspension/ alignment place and they pressed them out with a bloody big press.

They were also kind enough to press the proper "set" in the leading arms for driving on the left for me whilst they were at it. The way Ford assembled RHD Broncos and F 100,250, 350, in Australia they never really set the suspension up properly for driving on the left.

Because of the high crowned roads here, you were always driving "up" the road slightly, which used to wear the front tyres no matter how well the alignment was set. This same place told me they used to do all the F250 and F30 ambulances as well from new. I must say it steered MUCH better afterwards and only wished I had known to get it done sooner.

There are some people who should stay off Black Bear Pass.
SOME? BB pass is legendary. It seems like you don't earn your 4WD badge in CO unless you go here. Both on bikes and 4 wheeled vehicles. And that's the problem. It's gotten too famous for its own good.

In regards to those two young women on the Ford Bronco Sport, they were trying to turn around when they realized they screwed up and bitten off more than they can chew. Unfortunately, it was late at night and they had very little experience. Not the first time people screwed up. I feel for them, especially the driver who now has serious injuries. They got ejected from the vehicle!

Absolutely.

Haven't been up there in decades but I can only imagine what it looks like nowadays. It's the curse of Chief Niwot.
