I thought you were joking but wow it's true. Here in Freedom Land we can do 100mph all the time as long as you have the money to pay the (not income adjusted) fines and a good lawyer.
? May that person please get multiple Reckless Driving citations and jail time before he kills somebody. He can talk about his "Freedom" while sitting behind bars. ?

Um, going 95+ is doing something wrong. And, of course you run straight to a Communism schtick because it's all a conspiracy and everybody's out to get you. ?
Based on LawnMM’s ideas of his (hers?) “rights” you’d think even speed limit SIGNS would be Communist.

While I would agree that installing a device (or software, etc.) to specifically limit the speed of the average commercially available vehicle is a bit overkill, you’d have to think that those that get all “…my rights and freedom” over it would also have problems with stop signs, center lines, and driving on the right. After all aren’t those things infringing on you rights to do anything you want even if it’s for your own safety and the safety of others?

And since “Lawn” brought up guns…. Sure, own a handgun or long rifle for hunting or “self protection”, though the vast majority of times people own a weapon for self protection it doesn’t turn out so good, but…. Owning pseudo military type weapons is ridiculous. And when 2nd Amendment extremist types say it’s to protect themselves from their own government, well let’s just say unless you can bring down an Apache helicopter you’d best just have a seat.

if someone wants to break speed limits excessively, (not sure where to draw that line, but it needs to be drawn) let them find a race track. Roads are not made for your entertainment.
Even good drivers get distracted by things they shouldn't be distracted by. Think phones, alcohol, etc.

Soooo, that’s a reason to drive 95+? Good to know.
Well, they are a hero after all, they spent a year over seas. And heros should be allowed to do what they want.

Praying for corrupt people to suffer consequences by someone else is pretty popular these days.

The article cited in the first post starts with "After a 9-fatality collision in North Las Vegas" but no further context; I know exactly what crash they're talking about. It was a street racer that hit a mom in her mini van and killed her and her kids. (And himself.) It was really tragic.

It's stories like these that make me really fight my knee-jerk reaction to say speed should not be limited nor should any other freedom be limited.

I heard an idea once that I liked which said certain speeds would be GPS-locked depending on where you're located. German Autobahn? Go for it! Sebring Raceway? Go for it! I-15 South after a hard day's work? Speed limit is 75.

I dunno man I'm getting old and I have kids now.

Limitations are a good thing.

But where, how, when and who impliments them matters.

I bet insurance companies would love limiters on vehicles.

Heck, I'd be on board with software limits if I chose the limit. And that limit directly correlated to my insurance rate... Also, it would have to be done in a way that the insurance companies couldn't sell my data, even if it wasn't attributed to me... Heck, I don't think any web connected company should be allowed to buy and sell users tracking data.. I ok, down a rabbit hole I went... Read "weapons of math destruction" if you wanna understand why it concerns me....

Anarchy for all!

Sorry, as a canuckian I don't think you're allowed to think about guns for pleasure, much less an anti air craft gun.... ?

We are restricted to Hockey Stick Rubber Band long guns. I will likely get a visit from the Mounties now. :bandit:

I used to worry about this. But now the Queen's gone and I no longer have the fear of being beheaded. King Chuck is a wienerhead! =D
