One thing about taking it to the dealer. A lot of places will the vehicle sit there all day, then take it for a 2-minute ride, then say "nothing wrong". So, there is a chance they can replicate it when cold.
Try to make arrangements with the tech for a test drive as soon as you come in, while the trans is still at operating temp.

Ford will never own up to the 2019 Ranger 10 speed transmission issues, like everyone else’s. Even tho its warrantied. Sad day for American made.
What issues?

Slam shifting, powertrain alarms and displays, my truck is in dealer shop for the second time again for two weeks now. Was in the shop for three weeks two months ago. 4x4 controller bad, then bad wire harness, etc etc. Dealer has been great but having trouble finding the real issue.

I was trolling, Tony. I am aware that some have problems with the trans. So far, I'm one of the millions that don't, but at 36K, there is no guarantee that it won't blow or start acting up on the way home. But with a 125K ESP, I don't worry about it.

The past 2 weeks my ranger (2019 with 78K on it) has been down shifting very hard to the point where it felt like it locked up the rear tires. I took it in today for have that looked at and the backup camera replaced.

I got the backup camera replaced under warranty.

As far as the shifting they said it didn't have any issues. and it was shifting normal I pick it up from the dealer, I drove 20 miles and it down shifted and had that feeling of locking up the rear tires. Now that happned now I have major driveline clunk.

What do I do now? I feel like I have fallen on deaf ears at the dealership.
Welcome to hell...

2020 Lariat. Only 14K miles and it starting having harsh shifts when cold. Also, sometimes it would do the normal skip second shifting, but other times would use second and skip third. Very smooth after warmed up. Took it to dealer and they duplicated the issue. Applied the reprogramming TSB but it made no difference. So, they are going to do the valve body next. Waiting to hear how long it will be for the parts. Also asking them to fix the slip yoke start/stop thunk for the second time.

I started to notice mild symptoms in my Ranger at 5K miles. By 15K I stopped driving it until I found a 'solution'. I changed the fluid out 3 times, each time pulling out and replacing 7.5 quarts (with LubeGard Platinum additive), the last time I changed the filter as well. This got me to well over 90% clean fluid (closer to 100% than 90%), and It has been driving 99% better since, but I find it shifts far smoother in the 150F-160F temperature range than it does at 180F-200F. Mulling that over right now.

The fluid at 15K miles was black as coal! And clearly burned. Forget about Ford bloviating about never changing the fluid... "That it is good for the life of the transmission."

Utter Ford BS!

Change your transmission fluid every 20K miles and don't allow the transmission to lug the engine. You want to lock the torque converter as quicky as possible. Torque Converter slip heats the transmission up quite quickly. I think probably 70% of the heat in the transmission is generated from the torque converter. It is really inefficient.

The opinions expressed are from my experience... a sample size of 1.

While true, the torque converter does create the majority of heat in an auto trans from slipping, The issues with the 10R80 are coming from torque converters that lock up WAY too soon and lug the engine causing that massive CDF drum damage because there's no cushion from the engine to the transmission with the converter is locked up. The engine pulses hammer at the clutch discs that hammer at the basket/drums.

There's no reason to lock the damn converter at 15mph in 3rd freakin gear.

Whomever it was that programmed the shift strategy of the 10R80 in at least my 2019 Ranger Lariat, should be forced to personally fix and pay for the transmissions destroyed directly because of the shift strategy. I'm certain the only reason my Trans hasn't taken a giant shit yet is because 90% of my driving is freeway. When Im not on the freeway, I manually shift the thing.

The giant thump thousands of 10R80 owners experience when coming to a stop is the freaking cone type clutch in the torque converter that isn't letting go until it binds up against the engine and the speed of the trans. And then, THUMP and it feels like the rear end...because that's where it's being transmitted to. If the engine mounts were broken, it thrash the engine around in the bay taxing everything connected to it.

Ford did that.

I agree Shawn. The transmission HW and SW is nothing short of a comedy of errors.

"The gift that keeps on giving."

Originally my transmission released normally and didn't thump when the fluid was below 160F. At 180F it became intermittent. At 200F it was dangerous to drive.

Changed the fluid and added LubeGard Platinum... it shifted perfect. I'm at 9K miles since the fluid change at 18K. I monitor the transmission closely looking for telltale signs that the fluid is beginning to decay.

I plan to lower the fluid temps, targeting the 150F-160F range. I believe that the fluid life will be dramatically extended by dropping the fluid temps. Then I am going to have the transmission shift strategy improved.

I know how to drop the temps to the 170F-175F range without changing too much (easily reversible), but I have the parts on hand to modify the cooling system to reach my preferred target, it is just a lot more work.

And Ford will definitely not cover any transmission failure if I make the changes. But I don't trust Ford to repair the transmission properly anyway.

I plan to attempt the transmission cooling upgrade at the next fluid change interval (engine oil, anti-freeze, & brake fluid change) some time later this winter.
